Scuba diving at Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge is a 2 tank guided dive tour giving the certified scuba diver an ultimate diving opportunity to explore the magical underwater kingdom of a protected barrier reef and life that it sustains just off the southern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica.
Your 2 tank guided diving tour begins at the Punta Uva Dive Center, south of Puerto Viejo, where you will meet with certified diving instructors in preparation for the day’s adventure. You will be escorted by boat to the best diving locations over the reefs surrounding the Wildlife Refuge. Your bilingual guide will help you discover the variety of marine life found in this underwater world at your finger tips.
This is an opportunity to enjoy approximately 2 hours of uninterrupted swimming with living coral and brightly colored salt water creatures like Angel and Parrot Fish, sea fans, anemones, urchins, manta rays, and sponges as well as lobsters, sea cucumbers, and nurse sharks to name a few.
A few miles north of the Panamanian border and south of Puerto Viejo lies the Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge that protects many endangered species of plants and animals. This haven is home to nesting sea turtles, crocodiles, manatees, tarpons, dolphin, and more. The coastline offers access to the exquisite scuba diving conditions that you’ll be exploring.
After your dive, you will have access to a fresh water shower and can change into dry clothes. At some point you will be served fresh fruit and cold drinks.
The total time for this dive tour varies between 2 and 4 hours depending on the number of people in the group, the depth of the dive, and weather conditions. Included in this tour are: bilingual guide, dive boat, all diving equipment, safety instructions, bottled water and fruit snack.
Participants must be PADI certified. Please bring your diving certification documents, your bathing suit and towel, a dry change of clothing, sun block, and your underwater camera.
Dive times are determined by the tides and clients need to be at the dive shop 15 minutes before the start time of the tour to sign in. Note: Transportation from your hotel is NOT included in this tour.
