Costa Rica July

Costa Rica July Weather:

July can be a strange month for the weather in Costa Rica. Though it is the Green Season, there is often a mini Dry Season around the middle of month and lasting into August.

On the Pacific coast the rain can be expected in the afternoon and evening. The temperatures on will be hot in the mid 80’s to low 90’s. San Jose will have a similar rain pattern with temperatures about 10 degrees cooler. Mountainous regions will be about 20 degrees cooler with some rain likely every day.

The northern Caribbean coast is very wet with rain all day on some days. With the high temperatures, it will be hot and steamy. The southern Caribbean area you will experience less rain than in the northern Caribbean coastal area, but it will still feel hot and steamy. Pack light raingear, as you will need it!

Another hot and steamy area in July is the Osa Peninsula area which will be lush and green with the abundance of rain and high temperatures.

You may need to be a little flexible with your planning of activities during this period, but you can expect a “mini-summer” as the Ticos call it at the end of July or beginning of August, as rains eases and the climate becomes a little drier.
