Monteverde attracts visitors from all over the world who come to see the tropical cloud forest and many highland bird species that call it home. The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is not far from the lodge. A quick drive or a long hike will bring you to the famous reserve where one can discover the wonders of the cloud forest and enjoy world-class birdwatching. This area provides an opportunity to see rare and exotic highland species such as the Bellbird, Trogons, Hummingbirds, Emerald Toucanettes, and Resplendent Quetzals. We recommend using a professional guide with a spotting scope to maximize your time at the reserve.
Monteverde offers plenty of other activities as well. A horseback ride through the countryside or a visit to a local coffee farm are both fantastic ways to learn about the culture. Adventurers will love canyoneering and rappelling down cloud forest waterfalls or going on a high-speed ATV ride on the backroads. Monteverde is also home to some of the best canopy tours in the world. A zipline adventure allows you to soar like an eagle through the cloud forest treetops. With over 9 hectares of mostly forested land, Fondavela Mountain Hotel is a beautiful place to see nature up close. Most species of animals found in the Reserve also pass through lodge's grounds. The tropical gardens and fountains attract many birds so don't forget your camera when you are walking around the property!
Fondavela Mountain Hotel is one of the few lodges in Monteverde that has a heated swimming pool and two Jacuzzis. This pool area is covered and also has a pool table, and ping-pong table. For your convenience, this area offers lockers, dressing rooms, restrooms, and showers.
The lodge offers guests the Galleria Restaurant and a Bar. The spacious Galleria Restaurant has large windows to take advantage of the beautiful surroundings and serves a fusion of International and Costa Rican cuisine. A wood-burning fireplace adds to the ambiance of the cozy Fireside Restaurant, which also serves Costa Rican and International dishes. The La Taberna Sport Bar is a perfect place to enjoy tropical cocktails and sports events on the TV.
Rooms at the Fondavela Mountain Hotel are spacious, accented by Costa Rican art and hardwood furniture. Both room categories, Standard Rooms, and Junior Suites offer cable TV, mini-fridge, coffee maker, and telephone. While the rooms offer similar amenities, the Junior Suites and Superior Rooms are larger than the Standard Rooms.
