Sarchi

Sarchi
Immerse yourself in the vibrant colors and artistry of Sarchí, a charming town renowned for its handcrafted oxcarts, traditional crafts, and the iconic "carreta típica" that symbolizes Costa Rican culture.

Surrounded by rolling green hills lined with coffee plantations, Sarchi is the premiere destination in Costa Rica for souvenirs. This area is home to the highest population of artisans, crafters and wood workers in the country. There are over 200 such shops in this small pueblo! Of course, the village is not only comprised of artisan shops, there are also many small eateries and a few site worth viewing such as the beautiful double steeple church in the town center.

You will not find the traditional tourist trap trinkets in Sarchi. The local artisans take great pride in their work and specialize in items such as traditional ox carts, wooden rocking chairs, and carved statues of animals.
