Nice place except for hot water not being available in the morning (solar water tanks). This should be noted to potential users.

Monteverde Country Lodge offers a welcoming highland retreat amidst Costa Rica's misty mountains, blending rustic charm with comfortable accommodation. Guests can unwind in rooms featuring private bathrooms and garden or cloud forest views, while savoring locally sourced Costa Rican and international cuisine at the on-site restaurant. The lodge provides tranquil common spaces, including a fireplace lounge and gardens, serving as an ideal base for exploring the nearby Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and engaging in sustainable practices.
A garden pause, dinner with Costa Rican flavors and a lounge with a fireplace give Monteverde Country Lodge a welcoming highland rhythm. Set amid greenery and misty mountains, the lodge brings rustic character and comfortable accommodation together. It is a place to enjoy returning to after a day in the cloud forest, with more to look forward to than closing the room door.
Rooms have private bathrooms, comfortable beds and garden or cloud forest views. Classic and Superior options give you different details to compare, while the buildings sit naturally within their surroundings. Leave room in the itinerary for the grounds and common spaces, so the lodge's quieter appeal becomes part of the visit.
The restaurant uses fresh, locally sourced ingredients in Costa Rican and international dishes, served in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Tropical cocktails and local spirits at the bar offer another way to settle into the evening. On-site dining makes it easy to bring the day back to the lodge rather than organize another outing for a meal.
Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is within reach for hiking and a closer look at plants, wildlife and the cloud cover that shapes this landscape. Staff can help arrange guided tours and activities and offer local recommendations. You might explore on foot one day and choose a different pace the next, with the lodge as a comfortable base for both.
After exploring, find a seat in the cozy fireplace lounge or spend a quiet hour in the garden. The gift shop carries souvenirs and locally crafted items, adding another small connection with the region. These spaces give companions places to come together without needing every moment to be an excursion.
Energy-efficient lighting, recycling and the use of local and organic products whenever possible are part of the lodge's conservation approach. They complement the way the architecture blends with the setting. The experience remains warm and practical: comfortable rooms, a garden and meals made with an interest in the place around you.
A spa visit gives you another way to enjoy an unhurried highland day. Arrange transportation from Poco a Poco and choose an eligible treatment when planning to use the Pacific Trade Winds benefit.

The staff was very friendly and the location was nice. The room was okay, but there was never any hot water for showers in the morning.

The hotel was nice and we like the restaurant. Within walking distance to several great places. We went to town, headed the other direction and found Stella's bakery (highly recommended) and then down the hill to some great jungle trails with waterfalls and views.

We liked this place.

The Monteverde Country Lodge was my least favorite accommodation on this trip. It was fine, except for the breakfast experience every morning. The dining room was overcrowded and we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. On the last morning we got so frustrated that we took our breakfast outside despite the wind and cold. Also, the staff in the dining room at breakfast time seemed overwhelmed by the onslaught of guests and couldn't keep up. The food ran out. The coffee ran out. Etc. And then you had to wait for it to be replenished. A little chaotic, I thought.

No wifi in room. Wifi only available in restaurant and lobby. Very disappointed especially because it rained for 2 days so I was in my room. I don't think the website about the hotel mentioned no wifi in rooms.

Only issue was the sound barrier between rooms was very thin. I could hear the kids next door talking.
Beautiful hotel, so clean so convenient location. However, there's no insulation so we could hear everything. But I guess it's eco friendly hotel so it's perfect. Beautiful, peaceful place.
everything was great except the noise.
Beautiful hotel but the beds were not comfortable at all. Plus, the sound proofing in the room was very poor quality. We could hear everything that was going on outside down in the courtyard and the wind was extremely loud at night that it kept us up. Other than that the location was nice and the breakfast was delicious.
A nice place. It had both close restaurants and we could easily walk or get a taxi as needed.
This lodge was a little walk from the town but I'm a very nice area. There was wonderful hiking trails about 5 minutes away where we go to interact with many anaimals. There was always a lice band at meals which was meat.
Ok hotel. Best part was the location since we could walk in both directions easily on our free days. Also didn't know that cheese factory does not make cheese on Wednesday's so we walked over for a tour that day for nothing.
The rooms very clean and attractive, with very comfortable beds. Food was pretty good and staff courteous and helpful. Facility had no pool or hot tub, and offered no view of area. However found some good restaurants and museum nearby.
Did not sleep well the first night due to howling wind and noisy neighbours. Hotel was nice but nothing special. Staff were the best, very welcoming. Seeing many birds on the premises was great, and being able to easily walk to Saint Elena was great.
We liked the location of the Monteverde Country Lodge - it was in a very quiet location, yet it was close enough to Santa Elena to walk there. We could also walk to the Cheese Factory. One woman at the front desk was very warmly encouraging of my husband's efforts to speak Spanish - we liked that a lot!
The hotel catered to large bus groups which made it difficult to impossible to find a place to sit for a meal or drink. The grounds are pretty and welcoming, but not for a couple with large groups. The rooms were very comfortable.
Nice place we stayed in the sister motel....Wish we had the pool but otherwise it was all great....nice people
The hotel was very good. My only mention is that my room was close to a small courtyard behind the restaurant and reception and the first night there was some kind of entertainment going on and it was pretty loud in the room, other than that it was excellent.
Very average after Arenal Springs. The transportation by boat to the hotel was lovely but embarking and disembarking with luggage was quite difficult and I had a fall.
Would have been nice if hotel was closer to town center. The weather was quite cool and too windy
This is a peaceful rustic lodge in the mountains. It is located near town so I could walk there. The meals were excellent and the breakfast that was provided was copious.
great
Very nice. This place had a nice atmosphere, comfortable and not impersonal. Good service.
The lodge features an on-site restaurant serving Costa Rican and international dishes crafted with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Guests can also enjoy tropical cocktails and local spirits at the bar in a warm, inviting atmosphere.
