Find your place to stay
Xandari Resort and Spa offers an enchanting retreat in Costa Rica's Alajuela suburbs, nestled within a 40-acre coffee plantation. Guests discover individually designed villas boasting sweeping Central Valley views, complemented by extensive grounds featuring four kilometers of trails leading to waterfalls, a lap pool, and a heated outdoor Jacuzzi. The resort provides a holistic spa village and a central dining room where breakfast is included, ensuring a serene and immersive experience. With a 4-star rating and an overall score of 9.43, Xandari is a destination in its own right.
The Central Valley spreads below Xandari Resort and Spa, where individually designed villas sit on a 40-acre coffee plantation in the Alajuela area. The setting rewards staying awhile: a walk toward a waterfall, laps in a pool, dinner with the valley in view. The hours between excursions can feel like part of the destination.
Four kilometers of trails lead through the grounds’ greenery and to waterfalls. Give yourself time to look for the region’s flora and fauna, then return for a swim in a lap pool or a soak in the heated outdoor Jacuzzi. The spa village offers holistic services for a gentler afternoon. At mealtimes, the central dining room and bar keep the sweeping Central Valley outlook in sight; breakfast is included every morning.
The villas differ in size, layout and view, with tropical décor and outlooks toward the Central Valley, pool or grounds. Prima villas have 500 square feet of living space in buildings containing two to four villas. Their private terraces are furnished with a desk, table, chairs and chaise lounges—room to take a coffee or book outside and stay a little longer.
Prima mini-kitchens, mini-bars, dishes and glasses, a coffee maker, and a complimentary selection of coffee, teas, snacks, juices and water add to the pleasures of settling in. All villas have a safe, hairdryer, iron, telephone and alarm clock. Prima Plus, Ultra and Ultra Plus options vary in size and setting, with some stand-alone villas; compare the category when privacy or a particular outlook matters to you.
For a larger shared stay, the 1,420-square-foot Star Villa has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a salon, dining room, full kitchen and office. Its covered terrace faces the swimming pool and Central Valley. That extra space can bring family or friends together while leaving room for quieter hours of their own.
La Paz Waterfall Gardens adds another waterfall outing, while the Doka Estate-El Veradero coffee tour explores older and newer coffee-making traditions. A half-day canopy outing begins with a zipline and finishes in the cloud forest. Back at Xandari, two gift shops offer places to browse, and wireless internet is available in the main building alongside television and internet rooms. Choose excursions around your interests, then leave time for the resort’s trails, water and expansive outlook.

Beautiful location. Wish we could have stayed another night but husband had to go to work
We really didn't get long enough at this hotel, maybe next time. It was very beautiful. The view from the balcony at night was spectacular.

That was my favorite hotel of all! A perfect alliance between art, architecture and botanical gardens. A reel gem for the discerning travelers.

Not quite as nice as the rest of our hotels.

The view from Xandari looking out over San Jose at night is Spectacular. The views of the surrounding mountains are vast. We liked the nearness to the airport. We arrived on time & had lunch as the rains started, so we enjoyed the view from our room as we settled in on Tuesday. The rooms are bright & colorful & the grounds are well maintained with marked paths. We did not get to explore the grounds much as we had a tour on Wednesday & another on Thursday which carried us to our next destination of Peace Lodge. We want to go back to Xandari & enjoy/explore the grounds & lap pool.

The hiking trails on the hotel grounds were an unexpected treat so close to the city on our last day. The trails gave us something active to do before we went home. The concierge offered us boxed breakfasts since we were leaving at 2:30 AM. This was really fantastic!

Would have loved to arrived earlier to be able to explore the property more. Did not get to swim in the pool that faced sunset.

Surprisingly lovely resort with terrific food and excellent staff.

The property is spectacular, and we enjoyed very much the steep walks to the waterfalls and the gorgeous views. It's very interesting and many of the plants were labled, which is wonderful. The room was spacious and well appointed, but our terrace only had one chair, and my bed was not make properly. I awoke in the night to find ants crawling all over the bathroom. I alerted the staff and the woman on duty told me that the ants were coming from the outside, probably for something sweet on the floor. This tells me the room was not properly cleaned (which I suspected from my ill made bed). The restaurant view was gorgeous, but the food was lacking in quality and preparation. My salad was presented in a ridiculous configuration, and the shrimp cocktail was basically inedible. I had a piece, and my daughter tried a piece, and the rest sat on the plate. If the wait staff had been better I would have been able to order something else in a timely manner, but as it was, our waitress only returned after my daughter finished her steak. The horribly overcooked and overpriced shrimp cocktail should have been immediately removed from my bill, but it was not. Only after complaining to three people did they offer to take 15% of the price of the dish. I would recommend that guests eat elsewhere for dinner, and that they check their beds upon arrival. We also had to wait 30 minutes before we were able to get in our room. The so called "warm pool" was not warm at all. The staff was accommodating, but I felt like they did not really care. While the grounds are amazing, I could not in good faith recommend this hotel.

Gorgeous Hotel with beautiful gardens. One member of staff a bit rude and grumpy. Perfect pre flight chill place with delicious food and wonderful view

Amazing. Loved the artists touches, room design, and the manicured grounds. Food was excellent and enjoyed the staff and the pool and sauna.

This hotel far exceeded expectations, the service and staff especially were outstanding

This was fine for one night... it's sort of an ugly hotel in a beautiful setting. Staff was super friendly, room was clean, food was good, the property/view was gorgeous. The bed wasn't super comfortable.
