Set high in the tropical cloud forest of Costa Rica, Monteverde Cloud Forest Lodge provides rustic cabins and rooms in a forested area near Santa Elena, Costa Rica. Forest and trails surround this budget-friendly ecolodge, making it an ideal location for those that want to discover the cloud forests of Monteverde. Hotel amenities include a restaurant, bar, nature trails, and the internet.

The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is undoubtedly the main attraction in the area. Birdwatchers come from all over the world in hopes of spotting Resplendent Quetzals, Bell Birds, Emerald Toucannettes, and other rare and exotic tropical highland bird species. Horseback riding along the dirt roads and trails through the cloud forest and countryside are always a favorite activity. The coffee farms also provide tourists an opportunity to see what life is like in rural Costa Rica. Of course, you cannot leave out the canopy ziplines or hanging bridges. They are said to be among the best in the world!

Evenings at the Monteverde Cloud Forest Lodge are quiet. The lodge's Motmot Restaurant serves up typical Costa Rican dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, only using natural herbs and spices. Guests can enjoy tropical cocktails at the bar. The balcony allows you to watch birds as you eat your meal.

The no-frills rooms at the lodge are warm, cozy, and comfortable. They provide a private bathroom and beds. They do not offer amenities such as television or air-conditioning, but that only adds to the experience of staying in a rustic mountain ecolodge.

The hotel is in a great location and the hotel itself is beautiful and has amazing views. However, the bed was very uncomfortable, both of us woke up with sore hips in the middle of the night. The staff overall was very accommodating and nice but not very cheerful.

This place was magical... I loved the lodge, the location, the quiet, the food, the people, the scenery... What a picture perfect location! The rooms were very simple, and the only thing I can say was that you could hear everything through the walls... The bathrooms were nice and updated, the rooms, very simple. I liked the little porch we had and really would recommend the spa services!

Both of us found the staff at this hotel to be kind of rude and not that friendly. They were really short with us while we were talking to them and asking them things about the restaurant menu, etc. Also, there was a lot of staff that didn't speak English. But the grounds and rooms were beautiful.

The rooms were beautiful and the restaurant was the best on our trip. The staff was friendly and helpful. They also have a nice hiking trail.
