Overview

It’s hard to say which will ramp up your adrenaline the most, sliding on an ATV through rain forested mountain trails or soaring over the mountain tops getting a bird’s eye view of spectacular wilderness or jumping into the jungle on the ultimate Tarzan Swing. This full day Canopy and ATV Combination tour has it all.

In the Canopy Tour you’ll be exploring one of the most biologically diverse areas of Costa Rica called Monteverde. This unique environment ranges from 1300 to 1800 meters above sea level, just right for zip lining!

Once you have arrived you’ll be greeted by the receptionist who will ask you to sign in and introduce you to your trained, professional guides. Your guides will go over the equipment, give instructions and discuss all the safety rules with you. You will be fitted into your harness then start off with a walk on a wide metal ladder to arrive at the first of eleven zip line platforms. Your guides will demonstrate how the wheel and harness works and review the safety instructions while answering all your questions.

The first few cables are short in duration and of average height so you can more easily learn the maneuvers. Gliding through the cloud forest over a hanging bridge you’ll come to four additional cables varying in length and elevation to heighten your adventure now that you have built your confidence up.

Next you will have the opportunity to rappel vertically 15 meters by rope with the assistance of your attentive guides who are very experienced. Afterwards you will again zip through the canopy forest on three more cables 500 meters to 1500 meters above the ground. Stopping to take a break you can enjoy taking pictures as each person has a chance to do the Superman position and/or the Tarzan Swing.

With a line hooked into your harness at the middle of your back you can fly like Superman through the air. You can also try out the Tarzan Swing, one of the most exciting activities of the day. Here the guides will properly secure an elastic rope to your harness so you can jump freely to a distance of 40 meters. Four specialized guides will ensure your safety and help you as you jump at the top as well as receive you below.

Following this you’ll complete the canopy tour by zipping on some of the longest cables in Central America gliding over spectacular landscapes of natural wildlife habitat. Leaving the forest you’ll return to the headquarters where you’ll remove your harness and share the excitement of the day.

The Monteverde ATV off-road, four wheeler adventure tour will get your heart pumping as you speed through beautiful back forest trails and splash through rivers ending with a fun filled track and mud course.

This thrilling adventure begins with transport from your lodging to a private farm where you’ll meet your guide who will explain the safety instructions and show you how to operate the ATV. You will be asked to do a short course to assess your ability to control the ATV. If you do not have much ATV experience, please book this tour as a beginner. People with limited ability, for safety concerns, might be instructed to ride behind a driver. If an extra driver is needed, there may be an additional charge of $35 to cover the cost of an extra guide. All drivers must be at least 16 years old and have a current driver’s license. Children over the age of 8 years old may participate as passengers with a signed waiver from their parent.

Next it’s time to get dirty! You’ll push the limits of your ATV while tearing across a field, slogging in waterholes and plowing through steep, muddy terrain. Your guide will then lead you on a trek into back forest trails where you’ll be driving over rivers and taking in the sights of this wild jungle atmosphere before coming to the small town of Santa Elena and its stunning farmland panorama. At the end of the tour you’ll have the opportunity to spin 360s in a giant mud hole as your grand finale.

You will want to remember to bring dry clothes to change into and be sure to wear closed toed shoes including covered heels. Maximum weight for participants is 240 pounds.

Round trip transportation is provided from your lodgings in Monteverde and the town called Santa Elena. Also included in this tour are trail entrance fees, all ATV and zip lining equipment as well as professional, bilingual guides.

ATV exceeded expectations. The rest was very good but did not have the personal touch as was the case with ADR.
