Arenal Springs Resort and Spa

Arenal

Good to Know

Arenal Springs Resort and Spa offers a luxurious retreat in Arenal, featuring private thermal pools, lush tropical gardens, and captivating volcano views. Guests enjoy bungalow-style accommodations, diverse dining options including Costa Rican, Italian, and Japanese cuisine, and a range of on-site amenities like a spa, yoga deck, and multiple pools. Its prime location provides easy access to adventure activities around La Fortuna, ensuring a balanced stay of relaxation and exploration.

Hot-springs afternoons beneath Arenal

Come back from a day around La Fortuna and follow the garden paths toward the hot springs. Arenal Springs Resort and Spa brings private thermal pools, tropical greenery and views of the volcano into the rhythm of a stay. This four-star resort’s bungalow-style accommodation gives you outdoor space to pause, while the water and dining venues make an afternoon on site worth keeping free.

Warm water, cool water and garden paths

At the front of the property, thermal streams and pools lie among palms, ferns and flowering plants. A separate cool-water swimming pool and a children’s pool create different ways to enjoy the water, with lounge chairs and a sun deck for the hours afterward. A Jacuzzi and spa continue that slower side of an Arenal vacation, and the swim-up Sakana Sushi Bar and Restaurant brings dining into pool time.

A cold-water stream winds toward tilapia ponds, crossed by small bridges along the paths. Follow them to the open-air yoga deck, where complimentary morning classes take place several days a week. Guests have recorded 138 bird species in the gardens, giving birdwatchers another reason to explore attentively. WiFi is available in select public areas; a souvenir shop and conference room add other useful facilities.

An evening with choices

Ti-Cain serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with Costa Rican and international dishes, fresh Costa Rican coffee in the morning and a wine selection in the evening. Italian Corner adds brick-oven pizza, pasta, cold-cut platters and fresh salads with Chilean and Argentinian wines. At the wet bar, Sakana Sushi Bar and Restaurant serves sushi, Japanese salads and pasta dishes. Choose the meal that suits the evening, then take time to enjoy it.

Beyond the resort, the Arenal Volcano region offers rafting, canyoning and canopy ziplines, including Sky Trek and Tram. Horseback rides to waterfalls and ATV outings bring a faster pace, while Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge, hanging bridges and jungle hikes at the volcano’s base suit landscape and wildlife interests. Give the days different speeds, knowing the gardens and warm water await your return.

Choose the suite around your stay

The Junior Suites feature one king-size bed or two queen beds, air-conditioning, a flat-screen cable TV, a ceiling fan, a coffee maker, a mini-bar, a telephone, an in-room safe, and a hairdryer. The mini-bar is stocked with complimentary beverages for two people (once per visit). Each Junior Suite boasts a spacious terrace with a seating area and enchanting views of Arenal Volcano. When an additional single bed is required, it is provided as a roll-away bed.

The luxurious Master Suites are equipped with air conditioning, a Jacuzzi filled with natural hot springs water, an indoor shower, two TVs, an all-inclusive mini-bar in one of the rooms, a terrace with a volcano view, hammocks, two bathrooms, room phones, bath phones, alarm clocks, sofa beds, closets, safety boxes, hot water, fans, coffee makers, and hairdryers.

The resort also offers rooms with handicap access and adjoining rooms for families who wish to stay together. Please request these rooms at the time of reservation, and the resort will make every effort to accommodate your request.

Meals, spa benefit and stay arrangements

Important Note: Breakfast is included in the daily rate, while lunch and dinner are not unless otherwise specified in the room description. When included, lunch or dinner features a special menu that may not include all offerings from the regular restaurant menu.

Exclusive promo for PTW clients: 15% discount at Arenal Springs Spa.

IMPORTANT: From August 20 through November 20, select suites will undergo room upgrades, with guests assigned as far from construction as possible to ensure a comfortable stay. Additionally, Secreto Restaurant will be temporarily closed during this period, though its popular menu items will remain available at the resort’s main restaurant, Ti Cáin.

Hot springs, suites and the terms to compare

  • Thermal streams and pools among palms, ferns and flowering gardens make hot-springs time part of the stay, with a separate cool-water pool and children’s pool.
  • A cold-water stream, tilapia ponds and small bridges turn a stroll into part of the holiday; complimentary yoga runs several mornings a week, rather than every morning.
  • Ti-Cain, Italian Corner and Sakana give you Costa Rican, international, Italian and Japanese dining choices, including brick-oven pizza and sushi.
  • Breakfast is included. Lunch and dinner are not included unless specified in the room description; included meals use a special menu that may exclude regular-menu dishes.
  • Pacific Trade Winds clients receive a 15% discount at Arenal Springs Spa, adding a specific benefit to a treatment during your stay.
  • Junior Suite minibar beverages are complimentary for two people once per visit; Master Suites add a hot-springs-water Jacuzzi, two bathrooms and an all-inclusive minibar in one room. An extra single bed is a rollaway, and Master Suite hammocks bring more outdoor time to the volcano-view terrace.
  • Accessible and adjoining rooms must be requested when reserving; the resort will make every effort to accommodate the request, rather than guaranteeing it.
  • WiFi is available in select public areas; a souvenir shop and conference room add practical facilities, while birdwatching and the spa offer gentler hours on site.
  • A notice covers select-suite upgrades and Secreto’s temporary closure from August 20 to November 20, with Secreto menu items at Ti Cáin; confirm the arrangements for your dates.
  • Rafting, canyoning, Sky Trek and Tram, horseback rides to waterfalls, ATV outings, Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge and hanging bridges give the regional days different speeds before a return to the hot springs.

We really enjoyed our time at Arenal Springs. My only complaint is that the food options were overpriced for the value compared to other places we visited.

Cynthia M.

The service here is amazing. If you think you want it, they get it for you. The ceiling fan in our room wasn’t turning on. We called the front desk and in 5 minutes two men came with a ladder and fixed it. Little chocolates at night - wonderful. I got a stomach bug one day - Marcos, in the Italian restaurant was so kind - made me some lime soda water and brought me a plate of soup…Beautiful grounds. We were originally assigned a bungalow near the pools, but asked to be switched to another.. Which we were. Childless couples will appreciate being a row or two off the pool.. Lots of kids here - and they are in the pool all the time. There is an adult section, so you don’t have to be among the kid craziness, but children make more noise than adults, so being away from it might be the preference.

Robert S.

Rooms were small. Having to make reservations for every meal was annoying.

Arenal was our favorite stay and area. Every worker went above and beyond.

Sean J.

Good Hotel. Breakfast service can get a little sloppy during peak hours.

Cal D.

No concerns with the hotel. This hotel was a bit much for our style of travel. We spent most of our time out hiking so we didn't really utilize the resort. It is a great hotel but not one that fits our style of adventure travel. We understand that this is more a choice of personal preference and have nothing negative to say about the resort itself. The view of the volcano was exceptional.

Nathan P.

Beautiful property. Intentional in many ways. Restaurants on site were very nice with good food. Breakfast every day was a wonderful addition. The hot springs were so nicely designed and fun to sit in while having a drink at the bar or grabbing a bite for lunch. Our room was comfortable and the views were amazing. We were relatively close to most of our excursions in the area which was nice. The staff on site was all so friendly and made us feel truly welcome.

Jennifer B.

I loved the hotel and the grounds, everything was fantastic and I will definitely stay here again

Michelle H.

What a wonderful spot. Everything was fantastic about this resort, I would absolutely recommend it to anyone traveling to Arenal.

Matthew D.

The staff was very friendly, always looking to make sure you had a smooth experience. The grounds were well maintained and rooms sufficient for what we needed for our small family.

Robin V.

This is an amazing resort. It feels like home. The bungalows are wonderful and every one has a view of the volcano. The only downside is that the rooms have little room for luggage for a family of 4 and the pool is broken up into a warm and cold pool so it overall feels small. That said, it is amazing that it has a cold pool as in other resorts the warm pool feels more common.

Kimberly H.

Great place.

Loretta L.

Enjoyable and memorable. Breakfast was awesome.

Evan L.

Beautiful hotel. For the price, it is a great value.

Chris R.

Jennifer L.

I woke with a sore back on most nights, but it was still lovely! I really can't complain.

Tamara B.

Loved the hot springs!

Arnel P.

Awesome location. Very attentive to your needs.

Anthony R.

What can we say that would do this hotel property justice? It was truly amazing from the moment we arrived to the time to check out. They greeted our party with complimentary beverages. The check-in was easy. The assistant who transported us to our rooms was amazing. The on-site restaurants were amazing as well. The rooms? Excellent!!! Arenal Hot Springs was the best hotel experience we’ve had so far anywhere.
