Magic Mountain Hotel and Spa

Arenal

Good to Know

Magic Mountain Hotel and Spa in La Fortuna, Arenal, offers a harmonious blend of regional adventure and serene relaxation. Guests can enjoy tropical gardens, a swimming pool, and a spa offering various treatments, complemented by a restaurant serving local and international cuisine. Accommodations range from Superior Rooms to Junior Suites, many featuring balconies or terraces with volcano views. The hotel provides comfort and convenience after exploring nearby hot springs, volcanoes, and rainforest activities.

A La Fortuna stay with time for the pool and spa

At Magic Mountain Hotel and Spa, an afternoon by the swimming pool can be as welcome as a morning exploring Arenal. Tropical gardens surround the hotel in La Fortuna, giving you a place to take a walk, pause over a drink and ease into the next part of the day. The stay brings regional adventure together with the simple pleasures of time at the hotel.

The spa offers massages, facials and other treatments, letting you reserve a quieter interval between outings. The restaurant pairs local flavors with international dishes, and the bar adds cocktails and wines to an evening at the property. You can plan an active day and still come back with time to enjoy a meal and the grounds.

Adventure outside, comfort when you return

Nearby Arenal experiences range from hot springs and volcano outings to hanging bridges through the rainforest canopy. Ziplining, whitewater rafting and horseback riding give you other ways to explore. Choose the excursions that suit your vacation; the hotel’s pool and spa are useful reasons to leave breathing room afterward.

Air-conditioned rooms have cable television, a minibar, coffee maker and private bathroom. Superior Rooms and Junior Suites give you categories to compare, with balconies or terraces and volcano views in the room details. Junior Suites add a hot tub. Match the room and meal plan to your stay—breakfast-only and all-inclusive bookings have distinct terms.

Magic Mountain’s appeal—and the meal plan that changes the stay

  • A La Fortuna base with breathing room. Tropical gardens, a swimming pool and a spa give you reasons to keep time at the hotel between Arenal outings. Choose it when regional adventure appeals but you also want space for a swim, a treatment and an unhurried evening. Hanging bridges, ziplining, whitewater rafting, horseback riding and off-site hot springs bring different ways to explore the wider region.
  • Dining and room comfort. The restaurant combines local and international dishes, and the bar adds cocktails and wines with views around you. Rooms have air conditioning, cable TV, a minibar, coffee maker and private bathroom; balconies or terraces and volcano views add to the stay.
  • Breakfast-only is the default. You have the standard breakfast plan unless your Pacific Trade Winds itinerary explicitly states All-Inclusive. Check the Room Details and room-assignments table, as well as the included-meals section; a breakfast-only booking does not carry the expanded benefits.
  • An exclusive all-inclusive option. Pacific Trade Winds’ agreement is not available through other travel agencies or to the hotel’s general public. It includes most breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack menu items, with room service and takeout at no added charge subject to availability; premium choices such as lobster cost extra.
  • Drinks follow the plan’s hours and selection. Unlimited water, natural juices and sodas are included, with select beer, wine and liquor during service hours. Alcohol starts at 11 am; premium labels and liquors are excluded. Pool Bar service runs 11 am–7 pm and Outdoor Sports Bar service 4 pm–midnight.
  • Hot-springs transport has a clear boundary. The all-inclusive plan includes complimentary transportation to select off-site hot springs. Entry fees are not included and vary by facility; this transportation benefit is unavailable with the breakfast-only plan.
  • Wear the bracelet and note the exclusions. The all-inclusive bracelet must be worn to use plan benefits, and in-room minibar service is not included. Breakfast is served 6:30–9:30 am at the Main Bar; lunch and dinner service at the Main Restaurant runs noon–9:30 pm.
  • Arrival and departure meals are specific. Standard check-in and checkout times apply. Dinner is included on check-in day and breakfast on checkout day; snacks are available, but no other meals are included on those two days. Keep those boundaries in mind when planning travel and excursions.

NEW - Breakfast only OR All-Inclusive Plan!

IMPORTANT! By default, Magic Mountain is a breakfast-only hotel. However, beginning in February 2026, we are now also offering an all-inclusive plan. Note that unless your itinerary clearly states that you have an all-inclusive plan, you will always have the breakfast plan. Please contact us with any questions or if you would like to upgrade to the all-inclusive plan.

Get ready for a La Fortuna experience like no other. Pacific Trade Winds has secured a one-of-a-kind all-inclusive agreement with Magic Mountain Hotel & Spa. This plan is 100% exclusive to us; it is not available through any other travel agency, nor is it offered by the hotel to the general public. If you want the ultimate all-inclusive stay at Magic Mountain, you'll only find it here.

The hotel was dated, but the breakfast was great and the staff helpful. Would have liked to know that a hot springs hotel was an option.

Ashley B.

Hotel was very clean. Incredible view of the arenal volcano! Staff was amazing, very friendly and helpful.

Paulette G.

Nice hotel but a bit tired though, we loved the pool area. One of the restaurant staff was terribly slow and unhelpful but everyone else was great. Location was ok

The outside was beautiful! Could use lower places to hang clothes and more hangers. More places to hang towels. Service was great!

Guest review

This hotel had the best, most organized check in that I've ever been part of. I was expecting a complicated and confusing check in for our part of 14, but the paper work was laid out and waiting for us by room. The whole process only took a few minutes! Rooms selected, keys handed out, and all our rooms were together!! Made it very easy to coordinate events with all the family. Amazing service!

Julianne W.

Exceeded expectations. My son and I loved the many pool and hot tub options. The location was great -- we caught one sight of the Arenal peak during cloudy weather, and the rides to our excursions were close. Staff was friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was really impressive with a lot of variety. We'd stay here again and recommend to other families.

Barbara G.

VeryNice room and view from balcony of the volcano. Breakfast was excellent. Our room attendant had a talent for making the towels into animal shapes..fun.

Stephan M.

Very nice hotel--staff was great, restaurant was wonderful, pool was fun.

Katie T.

Great swim up bar and amazing views of volcano

Kristeen S.

AC was loud and beds were uncomfortable

Kyle K.

It was nice, but again food was very processed (other than the fruit) we would have liked more traditional options.

Steve D.

The hotel was OK, pretty much like any other big hotel anywhere. But the balcony faced nothing but jungle. It was spectacular! We sat and watched many different kinds of birds for hours.

Eric L.

A good hotel choice and a great room assignment with plenty of space and a nice view.

Abhijit S.

far from town, and not a great hotel.

Kyla W.

Our front desk staff was very helpful in arranging taxis and an added day trip. the hot tubs at the hotel could have been warmer but that is very minor compared to the rest of our stay there.

Angela B.

good quiet location away from downtown

Danielle G.

The food was great at the restaurant and great service!!

James B.

Hotel was just as we wanted. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Hotel was clean, comfortable, quiet

Theresa S.

Great hotel and dinner was delicious, and pricing was reasonable at the restaurant. Would even stay here if we come back again, for a longer stay

Ana V.

Beautiful hotel. The view to the volcano was amazing as well as exotic birds at the hotel. The greenery was spectacular!

Mario M.

Special mention for the restaurant. We had an excellent meal at a very reasonable price,

Jalima R.

Our hotel room was clean and comfortable and the views were amazing. The staff was super nice and friendly.

Gina B.

Good location, very close to the town and restaurants. The rooms were clean and I really enjoyed the volcano view!

Shannon W.

I'd suggest adding a dehumidifier in the bathroom. We had that in our second hotel and it worked wonders for drying out wet clothing. But, we LOVED the rain showerhead - so much that we were looking to buy one when we got home!!

Betsy W.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and appreciated the proximity to town. Hotel staff handled some large groups very efficiently, while we never felt crowded out by groups, especially at breakfast. Although a bit pricey, dinner in the hotel restaurant was delicious and service was attentive.
