Hotel Costa Verde

Manuel Antonio

Good to Know

Hotel Costa Verde offers a distinctive hillside retreat in Manuel Antonio, enveloped by rainforest with sweeping Pacific ocean views. Guests can choose from a variety of accommodations, including unique options like the 727 Fuselage Home, many featuring balconies or terraces. The hotel provides on-site dining, swimming pools, and serves as an ideal base for exploring Manuel Antonio National Park and nearby beaches, though driving to the coast is recommended. This eco-style, family-friendly property blends nature immersion with convenient amenities.

Rainforest mornings above Manuel Antonio’s coast

Rainforest surrounds Hotel Costa Verde, with the Pacific beyond and Manuel Antonio’s beaches drawing you toward the coast. From its hillside setting, the hotel invites you to enjoy the landscape throughout the stay: a morning with tropical birds around the grounds, time on a balcony or terrace, and an evening watching the ocean outlook change as the sun goes down. It is an appealing base for travelers who want nature close to their accommodation as well as on the day’s itinerary.

Stay among the trees, choose your own space

Balconies and terraces encourage you to leave time between plans: a place to read, talk about the day or watch the Pacific outlook change. The accommodation has a playful side as well as practical flexibility. The 727 Fuselage Home is a two-bedroom choice with an ocean view and terrace; the Cockpit Cottage and Cockpit Cabana bring other unusual names and layouts into the mix. Studios and bungalows provide more conventional options, with kitchens or kitchenettes in selected categories. Compare the actual view and bedroom arrangements, and note that selected CVII studios are adults-only while other categories suit families.

The swimming pools and surrounding gardens provide another invitation to stay awhile. Take a swim after an outing, or make a slower afternoon part of the vacation before heading out again. Costa Verde’s setting makes those hours at the hotel feel connected to Manuel Antonio, with the forest and ocean outlook continuing the experience of the destination.

An evening above the coast

The on-site restaurants bring local and international flavors to the stay, with seafood and tropical fruits bringing a taste of the coast to the table. Bars offer places for a cocktail and an unhurried evening. You can return from a day outdoors to a meal at the hotel, enjoying the convenience of dining on site without giving up the sense of being somewhere distinctly coastal. Friendly, attentive service adds a welcoming human side to the hillside stay, with the hotel team looking after everyday needs as you settle in.

Explore the park and plan the beach connection

Manuel Antonio National Park offers trails through rainforest, with opportunities to encounter monkeys, sloths and other wildlife. Canopy tours, zip-lining and whitewater rafting add more adventurous possibilities in the area, while the beaches give you another way to enjoy the coast. Mix those outings with time at the hotel according to the pace you want for your trip.

The hillside location is worth understanding before you choose. Although you can walk down toward the beaches, the hotel recommends driving: the walk is fairly long, and returning means hiking back uphill. Planning that connection lets you enjoy the elevated setting for what it offers without expecting the beach to be an effortless stroll from your room.

Choose Costa Verde for the hillside experience

  • Rainforest surroundings and Pacific outlooks make the hotel itself part of the trip. Balconies, terraces and sunset views suit travelers who want to spend time enjoying where they stay, as well as exploring the coast.
  • Driving to the beach is recommended. The walk is fairly long and the return climbs uphill, so choose the elevated setting with that transport decision in mind rather than expecting an effortless beach stroll.
  • Swimming pools set among gardens give quieter afternoons their own appeal. A swim after an outing lets you return to the rainforest setting without immediately moving on to the next plan.
  • On-site restaurants serve local and international dishes, including seafood and tropical fruits. Bars provide another reason to keep an evening at the hotel after a day outside.
  • Studios, suites, bungalows and unusual accommodation such as the 727 Fuselage Home provide meaningful variety. Bedroom layouts, kitchens or kitchenettes, and ocean or jungle views vary by category; match them to your party.
  • Selected CVII studios are adults-only, while other categories suit families. Choose the category as well as the hotel carefully so the accommodation fits everyone traveling with you.
  • Manuel Antonio National Park is nearby, with opportunities to look for monkeys, sloths and other wildlife. Canopy tours, ziplining and whitewater rafting add more active possibilities without making wildlife sightings a guarantee.
  • Friendly, attentive service brings a welcoming side to time at the hotel. The combination of that care, rainforest surroundings and varied accommodation suits a stay in which the hotel is part of enjoying the destination.

beds were pretty hard but that is all I have to complain about. What a beautiful place and we had the perfect mix of jungle and ocean view where we were.!! Love all those monkeys.

Kathleen F.

Excellent accommodation and lovely resort which I enjoyed very much. It was wonderful to see wildlife and birds right on the property of the hotel. I loved this place !

Katie S.

The bungalow was amazing, the location was amazing. If I had known this was so close to "town" I would have chosen a different hotel. I didn't like being that close to the party scene with my young kids.

We loved this hotel because it was a private bungalow. It was a little bit dated and the mattress needs to be replaced. But we loved having a kitchenette, a private porch with chairs and tables for games. The breakfast was excellent with a beautiful view of the ocean. The pool was great. We loved this hotel!

Chairs not too comfy for eating, but good for relaxing. We stayed in B-1, it was quiet and pleasant. Wildlife in the property: iguanas, monkeys, toucans, other birds.

Joyce L.

A nice hotel. I was stunned at the beauty of our room and our view.

The hotel and grounds were top notch. The staff was very friendly and excellent. The room was clean and comfortable. We had a view partially of the mountains and partially of the ocean very nice. There are multiple restaurants either on hotel grounds are just down the road that are owned by the hotel. All had excellent food. The only thing that was disappointing is that kids under 18 are not allowed in the only pool that serves food and drink. The two other pools are nice, but there is nothing there. The recommendation is for the hotel to make food and drink available at those locations. We were able to see some monkeys and parrots and other birds and a sloth just outside of our hotel room from our balcony. We also were able to see humpback whales in the ocean from our hotel room. All of that was excellent. Another slight drawback, although not significant at all is that it is a 10 or 15 minute walk down the mountainside to the beach. However, there is a very inexpensive and very regular bus shuttle that goes from the hotel to the town. People can catch that essentially anytime they want so they walk down the mountain is not much of a problem at all. I also recommend this hotel to anyone. Finally just down the street is a unique attraction it is a zip line that goes up and down like a roller coaster very fun and unique. A bit expensive because it cost eight dollars per person per ride and the ride last only two minutes. However, I think worth it. Note that for adults and larger people it does jerk you around a little bit so if you have a bad back I would definitely not do it, but if you are OK physically than I do recommend it.

The location with the million dollar views was fabulous. The pool and sun deck was amazing views. Our room had a very nice location with a partial view of the ocean and jungle. The room was very large and comfortable. The nightly shuttle picked us up from the different restaurants and dropped us off near to our rooms which was a good walk from the front desk. The active monkeys were playful near our balcony. The breakfast was delicious and the restaurant staff were very friendly. The front desk staff needs a little more reminder on customer service and customer satisfaction.

Again, beautiful property, excellent staff, awesome room with a view, loved the monkeys, iguanas, all the beautiful wildlife- definitely will stay there again, loved that we could walk to restaurants, beach,

We wished they had a jacuzzi! Those outdoors pools can get chilly when it's been cloudy all day. It would be wise to explain that the beaches in the park are WAY better than the public beaches. We found them quite dirty and rocky. The view from the hotel is AMAZING. That was the highlight of this place for us. Anaconda (their breakfast restaurant) is the best breakfast we had all trip.

Charmon A.

The view from our room and the wildlife outside our deck was incredibly wonderful!

Jay H.

Our room in Building B was directly above a very very busy and very very noisy road into Manual Antonio National Park. The noise seriously detracted from the outstanding view from our room. Make sure future guests are located in Building D which is much more quiet.

Yvonne L.

Excellent choice. Midway between Quepos and Manuel Antonio Park which allowed us to visit both easily with the bus service.

We loved the hotel. The only negative was that the mattresses were too hard

Guest review

Was close to the beach but the had to walk down a busy highway. Good ocean view. Our room in section E looked dingy and dated. There was a long walk uphill to to the room where some of our group members were staying. So very difficult to see them. Definitely would not recommend section E.

We had a wonderful time there, enjoyed the variety of restaurants, the wildlife & the very spacious rooms.

Guest review

We were disappointed with this property at first. The staff was not welcoming and we felt like we were bothering them more than being a guest to them. Our room wasn't ready so they told us to take a walk around the property. We had been traveling and just wanted to relax. Instead we "hiked" the property for 15 mins. We knew the property sat up on a hill from the beach but we didn't know and weren't told how spread out the property was and everywhere you go would be a hike. The staff offered rides to our room but every time we asked we felt like it was an imposition for them so we quit asking and suffered the hike to our room at the TOP of the hill multiple times a day. The gift shop was always closed by time we came back from our trip so we weren't able to buy souvenirs.

Needed to have a bar or restaurant open during the day

Guest review

The hotel has enchanting views, but it is in need of some renovations specially the bathrooms. However, the service compensates for the lack of comfort. From the reception to the restaurants, the staff were courteous and pleasing to all our minor requests.

Guest review

The hotel was beautiful. The onsite restaurant was only open for breakfast however. The power was out our first full day there and was out well into the evening too. It was a scheduled outage however so unavoidable. The beds were better than the first hotel, they provided a king which was nice but the mattress was anything but comfortable. The toilet had trouble flushing every time in our room. Other onsite bathrooms were fine though. The maid service was great. The laundry service was great. The view was wonderful, and the wildlife around was a real treat to see/hear. The restaurants were all great, Cantina BBQ was our favorite, then El Avion. Breakfast was very good each morning. The reception staff was very helpful whenever we needed a cab or any services or assistance. They were able to exchange colones and US dollars for us on the occasion we needed more cash.

Guest review

The staff at the front desk were not as friendly as the other hotels. The room itself was fabulous! Couldn't have had a better view!

Guest review

Overall had a great time at this hotel. My only complaint was the front desk with one particular individual. He definitely did not fit the mold of the TICOs we had been meeting up to that point. He was rude and condescending when we were trying to get info for the hotel and area.

Guest review

Did not like the tacky kitchenette in my room, but the rest of the room was very nice with the pictures windows and balcony overlooking the beach. Loved both the adult swimming pool with its great view and the open air breakfast pavilion.

Great location!

This place was very good and the staff went way above and beyond what you would expect. This is a place that I would highly recommend to anyone.
