Guests can immerse themselves in tropical gardens, enjoy a refreshing pool, and utilize convenient on-site dining options including a tiki bar and pizza restaurant. Complimentary Costa Rican breakfast and free WiFi enhance a stay focused on easy access to local attractions and a relaxed pace, often eliminating the need for taxis. In a destination where many hotels climb the hillside, La Vela Boutique Hotel makes a different invitation: walk easily to the beach and Manuel Antonio National Park. Its position at the base of the hill gives you a short, level route to Espadilla Beach, with restaurants, shops and boutiques nearby. That freedom to step out on foot can shape the whole rhythm of a Manuel Antonio stay.
Inside the property, modern rooms sit within tropical gardens. The pool and lounge area have sunbeds and umbrellas, creating a pleasant place to return after a park walk or beach morning. A tiki bar and pizza restaurant let you keep some meals close by; complimentary Costa Rican breakfast gives the day an easy beginning. Free WiFi, parking, a souvenir shop and an information desk handle practical needs.
More than ten nearby restaurants bring seafood, local favorites and international dishes within easy reach. Colorful souvenir shops add another reason to browse the streets between a beach morning and dinner. You can leave those hours pleasantly open, with a walkable neighborhood providing the next small discovery.
Rooms and suites differ in space, outlook and bedding. Standard Rooms provide a compact choice for couples, while Superior Rooms look toward the gardens and Deluxe Rooms toward the pool. Suites add furnished patios, and the larger Master Suite has mountain views. Extra beds are conditional and must be requested where applicable; compare the capacities and extra-bed conditions below. All rooms are smoke-free. Choose La Vela for its walkable setting and garden atmosphere, then compare the room categories for the space your party needs.
Air-conditioned, smoke-free rooms include premium bedding, a mini refrigerator, flat-screen TV, safe, terrace or balcony, espresso maker, desk and complimentary WiFi. Bathrooms have a shower, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries.
The national park gives those beach days a wildlife-rich counterpart, with guided walks offering chances to look for monkeys, sloths and scarlet macaws. Farther afield, canopy ziplining, rafting, canyoning and waterfall rappelling, horseback rides to waterfalls and ATV adventures bring more active possibilities. Surf lessons and sunset catamaran cruises keep the ocean central. A walkable hotel base does not mean the vacation needs to stay in one small neighborhood; it simply gives the quieter hours an easier pace.
Pro tip: Unlike most Manuel Antonio hotels perched on the hillside, La Vela is nestled in the valley, offering a level, short stroll to the beach, national park, over 10 restaurants, as well as shops and boutiques. This prime location often eliminates the need for taxi cabs or the hassle of arranging and waiting for transportation, saving you approximately $24 per day when compared to most hillside hotels with twice-daily trips.
Exclusive promo for PTW clients: 10% discount on the La Vela souvenir shop. At Baldis Fresh Beachfront Restaurant, clients have a 10% meal discount. At Morpho Beach Bar Restaurant; Guests of La Vela who purchase a dinner meal receive (one of) either a bottle of wine, cocktail, or dessert.

The desk staff was so friendly and gave us tips on how to sign up for national park tickets, where to eat, and how to get where we were going. Loved the design of this hotel, and the vibe in general. Perfect for our needs.

We enjoyed staying here the double bed for 2 people to sleep in was a little small.

This hotel was so quaint and such a nice place to experience Manuel Antonio. The landscapes, rooms, facilities, pool, were all so well put together. Proximity to the National Park, beach, restaurants, was fun to be that close to the action. It was also really nice to not have a huge hotel and be able to interact with the guests on site. The wildlife that would come hang at the pool added so much fun to the experience. Breakfast every day was delicious. The tiki bar and drinks were a great addition to the pool area. Staff was very friendly and knew who we were.

Loved this beautiful hotel! We loved that it was within walking distance to most things. The staff was very friendly and the front desk helped us with questions and booking excursions. Breakfast was delicious and loved that they had a small buffet, but also a small menu to order from. Food was fresh and delicious! We enjoyed using the pool. They also decorated our room for our anniversary!

La Vela Hotel was awesome! We loved the hotel, and the staff were awesome - very professional but so friendly and caring. If we could rate them higher than 10, we would.

Hotel room smelled at first of mold. Humidifier was on and staff said housekeeper may have run out of room deodorizer? Humidifier was a little loud, but necessary. The bed room and bath room were a bit cramped. Fresh ground coffee in the room was a plus and the pool and breakfast were nice.

Loved this hotel so much! They had the friendliest staff we encountered across all of our stays. Everything about our stay here was top-notch. The location was perfect. We enjoyed being walking distance to the beach, the park, and shopping and yet if we wanted to retreat to the hotel pool, it was secluded and beautiful. I sat outside and listened to the howler monkeys in the mornings and watched the white-faced monkeys near the resort in the evenings. Perfection.

It was intimate. Had all the amenities you want, but felt homey too. Room A/C worked great

When we arrived (very late) we were greeted by the welcoming smiling face of Marcella. What a lovely young woman and her kindness continued throughout our stay.. She was very helpful with information about the area. The entire staff was amazing but another standout was Rodrigo, the breakfast captain and waiter. We enjoyed starting each day with him. One morning we wanted to order the Pico Gallo breakfast but since we are allergic to meat Rodrigo confirmed that the dish is made with chicken stock so we ordered something else. A minute later, Rodrigo said he spoke to the cook and she would make us Pico Gallo with water instead. It was delicious. Rodrigo didn't have to do what he did but WOW it was so thoughtful.

Good location staff again amazing.

The hotel was in a perfect location, walking distance to the beach and right down the street from the entrance to Manual Antonio National Park. We loved seeing monkeys on the roof and in the trees during our stay there! And, it was great seeing Ramon, the Iguana, and a Chireppo reptile hanging around the swimming pool. The hotel had a bad odor outside between the pool and our room, but inside the room was fine. They only offered 1 pillow per person which isn't great if you usually sleep on two pillows. The staff at the pool and at breakfast couldn't have been nicer.

Lovely vibe, wonderful hotel! Would have liked a sitting area in the room. Felt very homey. Lovely grounds and great clientele and location!

The wifi connection kept breaking all the time though that could be due to our room location being so far away from the front desk maybe but the hotel was beautiful, personal attention from the staff, and we had very close experience with capuchin monkeys. Nice and private location. Very close to the beach.
