City views and a central San Jose stay

Watch San Jose open out around you from Hotel Presidente's rooftop bar. Panoramic city views give an evening drink a sense of place after a day among the museums, shops and restaurants of the capital. This modern, central hotel puts you in that experience, with contemporary comfort for the hours between outings.

Give the capital more than a passing visit

The National Theater, Gold Museum and Central Market are natural directions for a cultural day. Follow them with time among historic sites, the city's art scene or the everyday life of its streets. Nearby shopping districts and malls add opportunities to browse clothing, handicrafts and souvenirs, while restaurants and nightlife give the evening a different direction.

Breakfast and Costa Rican flavors

The complimentary breakfast buffet includes hot and cold dishes, fresh fruit, pastries and beverages, making room for an unhurried morning or an earlier departure. Later, the restaurant serves local and international dishes using fresh ingredients and flavors inspired by Costa Rican traditions. You can explore the capital's dining and still keep a meal close to your room.

Contemporary comfort between city days

Rooms have modern furnishings, air conditioning, flat-screen televisions, free WiFi and spacious bathrooms. Their comfortable, welcoming interiors create an interval between outings, giving you somewhere to rest without losing the convenience of a central stay. Choose the room that fits how long you will be in the capital and how much time you plan to spend at the hotel. Superior accommodation has a separate bedroom and living room, with a rollaway available; the Concept Room has a terrace and sitting area. Compare those differences if separation or outdoor space matters.

A 24-hour front desk assists with requests, and staff can recommend local attractions and help arrange transportation. A fitness center, business center and laundry service provide practical support during a visit of several nights. Those details make it easier to let the city hold your attention, from a museum morning to time browsing shops and an evening looking back over San Jose.

Hotel itself was really nice, but not the best local. Doesn't offer a lot of parking. Rooms were cramped, mattresses had noticeable dips in them which made sleeping uncomfortable, curtains were dirty, shower head was broken, and toilet seats high and uncomfortable to use. Staff was very friendly and helpful though.

Nice lobby and friendly staff but room very basic and breakfast with limited options

They could do enough. What a pleasure.

Hotel overall was fine, room was good size and clean. Many of the staff didn't understand English well so we had some issues when communicating. The breakfast was buffet style however they didn't ask us to wash or sanitize our hands when entering and there should have been someone giving out the food as opposed to guests all touching the utensils and lid covers, etc... We ate at the rooftop restaurant and they messed up our order 2 times and it took over 2 1/2 hours to get our dinner and dessert. We ended up sitting around waiting a lot for our food and drinks. Seemed short staff as it looked like there was only 1 or 2 waiters trying to serve everyone.

The restaurant in the hotel was particularily good. The breakfast on the other hand was just average.

The hotel and staff were fine but not sure if it was situated in the nicer part of San Jose. At night it felt less safe than during the day.

Loved the decor and the staff. Very friendly and helpful. The room did need chairs, as there were none and it was difficult to place my luggage. The shower was lukewarm and I couldn't bathe. There is no night light in the bathroom, so when I closed the door in the middle of the night and tried to see the toilet it was completely black and I felt blind. The restaurant food was fabulous and the bartender excellent. They were a bit busy and it took some time to get attention when I wanted to order. However, when I asked to move us to a location my friend thought was unavailable, they sweetly complied and wouldn't let me help move the utensils. If I weren't feeling poorly I'd have loved to stay up at night with the bartender.

One room was better than the other, which windows on to the airconditioning system. Beds were comfortable and shower was good.

Comfortable. Nice buffet breakfast. Good location.

Hotel offers hot tea but there is never any hot water in the tea pot. At breakfast the omelette chef was only there part of the time.
