Serenity House’s highlights and the road to reach them

• A private rainforest setting. The three-bedroom home sits on two acres in El Castillo’s rainforest. It suits families or friends who want to make the house part of the vacation, with howler monkeys, toucans, hummingbirds and other birds among the wildlife to watch and listen for.
• A pool with its own character. The infinity-edge swimming pool is filled with fresh spring water. It gives the group a rewarding place to come back to after an outing and a reason to keep an afternoon free at the house.
• Bathrooms for everyone’s room. Each of the three bedrooms has a private bathroom. A fully equipped kitchen and a comfortable living room with reclining leather couches and sofas balance that personal space with places to cook and gather together.
• Airy interiors rooted in the setting. High ceilings, local artwork and indigenous statues give the house its character. Ceiling fans in every room and screens on the doors and windows support natural airflow while you enjoy time indoors between rainforest outings.
• The access road matters. A 4WD vehicle is recommended for the gravel road leading to the property. Choose the house with that journey in mind rather than planning transport as though it were a downtown hotel.
• El Castillo beyond the house. Nearby restaurants and attractions give alternatives to cooking and staying in. Volcano hikes, ziplines, hanging bridges, waterfalls, kayaking, paddleboarding, horseback riding and wildlife tours let you vary the days before returning to your own pool.
