Spend time with the cloud forest

A walk in the cloud forest can become the whole reason for a day at Bosque de Paz. Set within a private reserve in Bajos del Toro, the lodge draws you toward streams, waterfalls and trails threading through lush vegetation. Bring an interest in birds—or simply a willingness to pause—and the landscape gives you plenty to explore without leaving the reserve.

Birdwatching is a particular pleasure here. More than 300 species inhabit the reserve, and guided outings with expert naturalists help you notice and identify the birds moving through the canopy. Take your time on a trail, watch what happens among the leaves and return the next day for a different walk. The forest’s plants and wildlife reward attention alongside its birdlife.

Make the reserve your home for a while

Comfortable rooms and junior suites sit within that nature-centered setting, with efforts to minimize environmental impact extending into the accommodation. Return from a walk, settle in and let the next meal mark the change of pace. Preserve entrance, lodging, lunch, dinner, breakfast, forest-trail use, orchid-garden access and all applicable taxes are included, making it easier to give your attention to the place itself.

Bosque de Paz supports reforestation, research and education aimed at protecting this cloud forest ecosystem. That work gives its conservation identity substance. For travelers who would gladly leave time for another bird call, a stream or a closer look at an orchid, the appeal lies in allowing the reserve to become more than a brief stop between destinations.

Wonderful experience. Very well looked after. Only problem was that because there was no TV and due to the remoteness one cannot do much after dark. Having a TV in the rooms may help.
