El Silencio Lodge and Spa offers a serene escape within a 500-acre private cloud forest reserve in Bajos del Toro, Costa Rica. Guests can immerse themselves in the mountain and river scenery from private decks with rocking chairs, enjoying complimentary daily wellness classes and a full-service spa. The organic restaurant serves Costa Rican dishes made with local organic ingredients, fostering a deep connection to the surroundings. Accommodations range from suites with heated outdoor jet pools to spacious villas, catering to guests aged eight and above.
A private deck, a rocking chair and forest all around: El Silencio Lodge and Spa invites you to give the mountain setting some unhurried attention. In the small Bajos del Toro community, the lodge occupies a 500-acre private cloud forest reserve, with trails and accommodation positioned for mountain and river outlooks. Guests must be at least eight, making that age requirement part of choosing a family mountain stay.
The forest yoga studio sits close enough to the river for flowing water to become part of the experience, and daily wellness classes are complimentary. A full-service spa gives you another way to enjoy a quieter day among the plants and wildlife of the reserve. In the evening, the organic restaurant serves Costa Rican dishes made with local organic ingredients, continuing the connection to the surroundings.
Suite time can be a pleasure in its own right. A pillow-top king bed with two twin daybeds provides sleeping and lounging choices, while a deck with rocking chairs and a heated outdoor jet pool makes the outdoor hours appealing. Refrigerators, phones, safes, hair dryers and personal-care products supply familiar comforts. Confirm the precise configuration and outdoor features for the suite selected, especially if a particular deck or pool is central to your plans.
A riverside position can bring the sound of flowing water into the deck hours, with proximity to the main lodge and complimentary Wi-Fi making location another part of the choice. Current Deluxe Suite, Two Bedroom Suite and villa options have different layouts and bathing facilities, so compare the room being arranged rather than expecting every forest accommodation to feel the same.
Private villas offer more room for families or companions. If a king-bed master with its own full bathroom and a second bedroom with two full beds and another bathroom suits your party, confirm that arrangement for the villa you choose. High-speed Wi-Fi, satellite television, writing desks, biodegradable personal-care products and private parking can be useful features to request alongside the space. Current two-bedroom, riverside two-bedroom and three-bedroom villa choices add different combinations of kitchen or kitchenette and living space.
La Paz Waterfall Gardens and canopy ziplining offer ways to explore beyond the reserve. The half-day canopy outing includes transportation, a guide and equipment; arrange it as part of your plans, then leave enough time to return to the river, deck and forest. El Silencio’s appeal is that balance between a mountain adventure and the quieter pleasures of the accommodation you have chosen.

Hotel was excellent and was an Oasis in the rainforest. We enjoyed it very much with the only negatives being the restaurant staff being too rushed at times and the hotel room heater being kind of loud since it had to service both the sleeping area and bathroom (which always was cool). But these were minor issues.

Terrific place to stay in. By far, our best lodging experience during this vacation. Everything was top notch - the staff, restaurant, activities, natural walks in the area. Too bad we only had two nights there!
