Koora Monteverde Boutique Hotel

Monteverde

Good to Know

Koora Monteverde Boutique Hotel offers an elevated escape beside Aguti Reserve, blending cloud forest tranquility with convenient access to Monteverde center. Guests can explore four kilometers of self-guided trails, relax by heated pools, and savor fusion cuisine with stunning forest and sunset views. A range of suites and bungalows provides diverse accommodations, ensuring a personalized hillside experience. The property balances immersive nature with a five-minute drive to town convenience.

Forest paths and hilltop evenings at Koora

Sunset draws attention to the hills at Koora Monteverde Boutique Hotel. From its elevated setting beside Aguti Reserve, the outlook takes in cloud forest and town, reaching toward the Gulf of Nicoya on clear days. The restaurant and bar are positioned for that changing view: a cocktail, the sounds of the forest and time to watch the light move across the hills.

Walk into the forest, stay close to town

Four kilometers of self-guided trails in Aguti Reserve let you explore at your own pace. Monteverde's highlands also draw birdwatchers looking for resplendent quetzals, emerald toucanettes and bellbirds. You might choose a day spent looking closely at the forest or a canopy zipline and hanging bridges for a view through the treetops, without needing a particular bird sighting to make the outing worthwhile.

The small Monteverde center is a five-minute drive away, balancing the forest atmosphere with near-town convenience. Tropical gardens and heated pools give you reasons to stay on the property for part of the day. Air conditioning adds room comfort, and free WiFi is available in designated areas; plan to connect there when you need it.

Breakfast choices and an evening outlook

The restaurant and bar are near the front desk, making meals and drinks easy to weave into the stay. Start with an American-style breakfast or gallo pinto, the traditional Costa Rican option. The fusion-menu restaurant reopens for lunch at noon and dinner at 6 pm. Signature cocktails and beers give the evening another direction, with sunset and the forest outlook as reasons to linger.

Choose your way to live on the hillside

Suites in the main building, bungalows distributed through the property and forest rooms provide different relationships with the landscape. The choice involves more than a room name: consider shared living space, sleeping privacy, stairs and whether your preferred outlook is toward the forest or the wider hills.

If the Family Suite is available for your stay, its two private bedrooms, two bathrooms, mezzanine, living room and minibar provide space for up to six guests. Junior Suite layouts have a mezzanine, one and a half bathrooms and a minibar. Ask your vacation specialist to match these arrangements to the accommodation available for your dates; avoid assuming that similarly named suites have the same floor plan.

The bungalows include one- and two-story layouts, creating different ways to enjoy a more private forest stay. Ask about the Gulf of Nicoya outlook of the Double Deluxe Bungalow if the view is central to a trip as a couple. Koora's wider coastal outlook depends on clear conditions, but the forest trails, warm pools and hillside dining give you more than one way to enjoy being here.

This hotel was beautiful, and the staff were so kind and helpful. Our room was amazing (however, there were some fixtures that were minorly damaged and could benefit from being repaired), and we loved the location of the hotel next to the Aguti Reserve and Natuwa. The restaurant also had very good food, and we really enjoyed our time there!

This hotel was very nice. We also enjoyed the aguti reserve right next door for only $3 each. The trails there were very interesting and being able to see the huge strangler fig trees was a plus. We did an extra tour from the hotel here. It was very expensive but I would still recommend it to others as the night tour was very interesting and we were able to see nocturnal animals and our guide even spotted q juvenile quetzal which was unexpected.

We absolutely loved Koora, this was a hit with the whole family and the hotel was stunning.

The Koora Hotel is beautiful. View is amazing. Degraded review, as paths to bungalows are dangerously steep and narrow ... there is no alternative, one has to attempt to hike these foot paths. We arranged our schedule to reduce the number of times we would have to walk up or down from hotel entrance building (restaurant & check-in). Staff was extremely friendly and engaging and did assign our 2 rooms close together.

The room and restaraunt were very nice, and the views were excellent. The walkway to the rooms was too steep to walk back and forth. We were not expecting this much climbing to get to the room.

Another great hotel experience! Staff were very nice and gave us tips on best practices to get around Monteverde.

Amazing 2 story suite. One of the nicest hotels we’ve stayed at only downside was on site. Restaurants menu was rather limited, however. The quality of their food was good and we were only there for three nights.

Again we were delighted with the service and the friendliness of the staff.

My favorate hotel of the entire trip. 10 ++++

Will stay at this hotel again. It was lovely!

Recommend a towel bar or hooks in the bathroom and better lighting!

Another fantastic hotel! Great staff, comfortable rooms, wildlife sightings every day. Loved our upgrade to a room with a plunge pool. Enjoyed the Guanacaste Day celebration with local dancers.

Beautiful hotel, would definitely love to return

Guest review

The hotel was very nice but too much of a hike to town so we had to take taxis every evening for dinner. The breakfast and views were great from the hotel restaurant. And the hike nearby was fabulous with many animals to be seen. It would be nice though if the hotel let us control the air conditioning as our room was very humid and our clothes wouldn't dry and everything just felt damp in that climate.

Best service we've ever had. Beautiful view. Would love to go back.

This was such a special hotel. From the moment we checked in we were in love. A welcome drink, a beautiful view and a spacious place to lay our heads. Only wish they had 3 BR bungalows so we could have had the experience of feeling like we were staying in a tree house. The refrigerator was stocked with drinks, some snacks were in the room and a lovely "souvenir" was given to us. They asked our names when we checked in and then all of the employees referred to us by name our entire trip. We were even given snacks and water for our departure trip. Hotel is curated from top to bottom. This was such a wonderful place to stay. We had a wonderful dinner....food was delicious.

The best hotel I have ever stayed out- pure luxury :)

this place was BOMB. i have stayed in some of the best hotels in the world and the sense of welcome and belonging the entire staff exhibits is world class. We wanted to try to remember all the staff that were standouts but every singe one was so we hope that suffices. Literally everyone is a gem. THANK YOU for this pick.

What a cute hotel! I loved that we felt like we were in our own treehouse! The staff was excellent and they served the best hot cocoa! We took the opportunity to hike the Aguti reserve which cost nothing and is right next to the hotel. The view from our bungalow was amazing, we could see the pacific ocean. I am so thrilled that you gave us the opportunity to experience this hotel!

The beds were not very comfortable. There was no Central AC or heat. The hotel provided space heaters and luckily it was not hot. We had a great time and the staff was wonderful!

Kenneth the front desk guy was SUPER helpful. We didn't get our PCR results and he made a bunch of phone calls and got everything straightened out. The room is amazing, lots of steps tho! Bugs, but that's the rainforest. Breakfast was great. I would stay here again.

Exceptional staff and service

Koora Monteverde is a hidden treasure! The setting high on the hill, the reserve which is right outside the door, the long views toward the bay and the friendly staff were outstanding!! This was a favorite place in our visit - we loved the temperature too. The staff is so hard working and helpful in every way, we would come back for sure! We wished we could have stayed longer:-)

Robin F.

Very spacious, quiet, comfortable rooms with views and lots of privacy. The place is pretty new so they have some wierd quirks, like no furniture on the terrace, and only a rocking chair in the room. Limits the ability to have a drink and a snack on the deck. They should put a door on the downstairs bdrm, not sure the point in having it all open plan. They only give you one key and if you lose it or forget it in the room - its kind of a problem. The food was good and reasonably priced, the service was earnest but they often had staff doing multiple roles, however it was not busy when we were there. Overall this place worked for us and we enjoyed being there, but it was pretty pricey and not actually luxurious (but very very nice all the same)

Harvey L.

Overall a very nice and new hotel. Air conditioning in the room would have been nice during the day but we understand that it is cold at night. The lunch and breakfast meals were better than the evening meals. Not too hard to walk into town but too steep to walk back to the hotel. Taxis however were easy to find and inexpensive
