A private rainforest retreat near Rio Celeste
Rainforest surrounds the accommodation at Rio Celeste Hideaway, giving a stay near Tenorio Volcano National Park a sense of retreat. A private terrace, an outdoor hot tub and the sounds of nature invite you to spend time at your casita as well as on the trails. Come for Rio Celeste’s remarkable color and waterfall, then keep space in the itinerary to enjoy the forest setting you return to.
Let your terrace become part of the day
Spacious accommodation blends contemporary comfort with rustic details. Garden-view and forest-view casitas offer different outlooks, with terraces and hot tubs providing a place to relax between outings. Take your time comparing the categories, then choose the surroundings that best fit the way you want to enjoy the lodge.
A terrace pause can be a natural counterpoint to an active morning. Read, enjoy a conversation or listen to the rainforest, then head toward the restaurant when it is time for a meal. The hotel’s eco-conscious approach and green surroundings keep the focus on the landscape rather than separating the accommodation from it.
Discover the river, then return to the forest
Guided nature walks provide opportunities to learn about the flora and fauna around the property. Farther afield, hikes toward Tenorio Volcano and the Rio Celeste waterfall bring one of the region’s strongest attractions into your plans. The river’s turquoise color is a reason to explore the area, while the lodge’s pool gives you a straightforward way to enjoy a swim back at the hotel.
The restaurant combines international flavors with locally sourced ingredients, with rainforest views carrying the setting through to dinner. Spa treatments inspired by traditional healing practices offer another way to unwind after a walking day, allowing the quieter part of the vacation to feel as intentional as the excursions.
Rio Celeste Hideaway suits travelers who want comfortable, private accommodation in a nature-centered setting. Rather than rushing onward after seeing the waterfall, stay long enough to enjoy a terrace afternoon, a meal and the forest around you. Those hours give the visit its own rhythm.

If I could give the staff a 25, I would do it. They were absolutely incredible. The hotel itself was gorgeous, as were the grounds. Overall, it was amazing. My only challenge here was that I had stressed how important it was to stay somewhere that we could easily access Bijagua. We were told by the hotel staff that there was no way they could get us into town, unless we took a $70 (each way) taxi ride. Thus, we never did get to show our kids Bijuagua. The onsite restaurant was great, however incredibly expensive. Fine for a night, but defniitely wasn't expecting to drop $300 on dinner two nights in a row. Without any other options due to a lack of transportation, it was a bit challenging from a financial perspective. That said, we would certainly stay here again...just with more realistic expectations (and probably without our kids).

The restaurant menu was excellent. The presentation of the room was a special surprise acknowledging our anniversary.

BEAUTIFUL hotel. It was our favourite one. This hotel kindly let us join a night hike for free, since our previous night hike (in a different location) was rained out. The rooms were luxuirous and spacious. the restaurant was amazing. The access to the river was awesome and we had a very fun time in the river! The hotel also helped us get a taxi to the close by park so we could hike to see the waterfall.

A wonderful place to be, and we were sad to leave. Everything was great except the dinners were more expensive than they should have been.

It seems that each of our hotels just got better than before. RCH was like having a private home in the middle of a jungle. Even more amazing flowers, birds, and animals than at Senda, and here the dining room was huge and open, with bird feeders on one side and a koi pool on the other. First day there a white faced monkey came to our deck and tossed a chair at the glass door, apparently because he saw his reflection and thought there was another monkey looking at him. No damage, and a very interesting start to our visit. The food and drinks were great, as was the staff. Portions were so large that we quickly learned we needed to split our meals. They happily did this in the kitchen with no extra charge. Also, the presentation of the food was exceptional, with each plate having a colorful design of sauce and edible flowers added before serving.
Beautiful resort. We liked being off the beat and path but wish we were informed that there was absolutely nothing else's around. The waterfall is beautiful and within walking distance to the resort. Picked up horse back riding on our free day.
