Today you will go on an amazing half day of adventure at the Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges Park. The bridges and trails are located in the rainforest near the majestic Arenal Volcano. All of the 15 bridges vary in height and length and provide an interesting way to observe the rainforest canopy.

Set in the rainforest near Lake Arenal, the Mistico Park is on the fringe of the Arenal Volcano National Park. While the park and surrounding area is better known for the volcano, this is an area that protects many species of wildlife. With a little luck and cooperation from Mother Nature, your bilingual guides will point out wildlife such as armadillo, toucans, deer, raccoon, coatis, sloths, and hopefully a few monkeys. Several wild cat species such as puma, ocelot and margay have been spotted in the park, though sightings of these elusive felines are uncommon.

It is also important to mention that for safety reasons open sandals or shoes are NOT permitted on this tour.

The La Fortuna Waterfall is one of those must see attractions that should be on everybodys list. This towering waterfall is just a few minutes by car outside of La Fortuna and right around the corner from the iconic Arenal Volcano.

After being picked up at an Arenal area hotel, you will be brought to the scenic waterfalls. The drive will take you through a rural community allowing you to see a more traditional side of Costa Rica. As you get closer, the views get better and better. On clear days you can see the majestic Arenal Volcano and the neighboring Cerro Chato Volcano. You will also pass by fields which are often frequented by toucans and other bird species.

The hike back up is physically demanding so be prepared for a challenge! NOTE: This activity is not recommended for children under 5 years old and parents will need to stay with all their children throughout the hike. After the tour you will be returned to your hotel. The total duration of this combo tour is around 7 to 8 hours, but this can vary based on a variety of factors.

  • Walk through the canopy of the rainforest as well as the floor
  • Good chance of spotting exotic wildlife
  • On clear days there is a spectacular view of Arenal Volcano from one of the bridges
  • See a 70 meter waterfall surrounded by jungle
  • Those that hike down can swim beneath the falls
  • Observation platform for those that do not hike down

Food during the hike trail is not allowed, and running or jumping on the bridges is not allowed. Use of radio, speakers, and similar devices is not allowed in the Mistico Hanging Bridges park.

Please note that from April 20th to June 23rd, 2024, the Vista Arenal bridge segment of the tour will be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled annual maintenance procedures. However, rest assured that Mistico Park is committed to ensuring your continued enjoyment by enabling an alternative route during this time. Your understanding and patience are appreciated as they diligently work to enhance their offerings, striving to provide you with an exceptional experience.

Our guide was a little too talkative, but that’s just his personality. Super nice person

More crowded than I had hoped. There was a mix-up and delay getting admission to the waterfall, and our guide said this had happened before. Our guide, Pana, was fantastic.

Tour guide was phenomenal - so articulate, so friendly; one of the best I have had on my trips. Great lunch,

Hanging bridges tour through the tropical forest scores a 10! Again, our guide was super knowledgeable. We could have done without the La Fortuna waterfall hike. We did not think it was that spectacular, but no complaints. Probably would have rather made the hike back through again.

Gravin was amazing! He really made out excursion!

Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. He made the experience worthwhile!

Excellent tour guide. Albert is very knowledgeable and enjoyed working with us and told us our enthusiasm for nature was very welcome by him. Took his time with us.

We loved our guide so much!

Alvaro Vargas, our tour guide, was lovely.

Our guide Alvaro was wonderful

Great tour and guide!

Our tour vehicle picked us up on time. Both the driver and the guide were very helpful. The Hanging bridges were a lot of fun and offered spectacular views. Our multilingual guide made us very welcome and shared a lot of info. The waterfall was also a great experience.
