The Monteverde One Day Tour provides a whirlwind tour to the famous cloud forest village. While we do not necessarily recommend taking on so much in a day, it is possible if you are willing to take on the adventure!
The day starts off when you are picked up at your La Fortuna area hotel. You will be picked up at your hotel and driven around Lake Arenal, the largest lake in Costa Rica. It is now three times its original size after a dam was constructed in the 1970s. The lake is surrounded by mountains and jungle.
The drive to Monteverde, on a tour van along unpaved roads that cut through the rural Costa Rican countryside, will take about 3.5 hours each way.
When you reach Monteverde you will be brought to the Selvatura Park where you will have your choice of either canopy ziplining for adventure or hanging bridges for nature in the cloud forest. Then you can visit the hummingbird gardens, butterfly farm or the insect museum.
All good things must come to an end, so after about three hours in Monteverde, you will return to La Fortuna the same way you came. In total, this tour can last from 9 – 12 hours depending on the day. This fun filled full day expedition includes transportation, guide, entrances, and water.
