Overview

You’ll enjoy front row seats to the best wildlife and nature exploration in the area as you go whitewater rafting down this portion of the beautiful Colorado River. Rio Colorado’s Class ll and Class lll rapids will have you careening through the rainforest with its many exciting twists and turns.

You’ll meet at the Canyon Lodge reception area then be taken on a short ride via microbus to the edge of the river. Your guides will start off by explaining the rules of the river to ensure the safest ride for everyone. They will pass out high-quality helmets, paddles, and lifejackets before helping you hop into an inflatable raft called a “doki”.

Sitting at the edge of the river, your boat will be pushed offshore and sent down the powerful river currents where the fun begins. This is actually a great opportunity for first time white water rafters since the river provides periods of calm in between moments of pure adrenaline thrills.

Depending on your skill level and the condition of the river, you may have a personal guide riding with you in your boat, or in a separate doki showing you how to navigate the rushing rapids. During part of your trip you’ll be maneuvering through giant boulders and always you’ll be surrounded by the sights and sounds of the tropical rainforest.

Looking around, you’ll see by the filtered light in the jungle, hanging vines, green mosses, and ferns growing on and around the giant tree trunks with their interwoven towering overhead canopy. You might hear the loud but gentle hum emanating from shore reminding you of all the exotic animals, insects and birds living in this tropical rainforest. Your adventure guides will be quick to point out any sloths, monkeys, iguanas, or birds that you may be able to see on the day of your rafting journey.

This 1 to 1.5 hour tour includes bilingual, professional rafting guides, safety gear, and high-quality equipment. There is NO TRANSPORTATION from outside hotels.

Please wear a bathing suit or clothes that can get wet, enclosed water shoes, and keep any extras securely zipped up in your pockets. You may want to bring a change of clothes for after the tour, and insect repellent plus sunscreen is highly recommended.
