Surf Lesson at Carrillo Beach

Costa Rica is definitely the place to go surfing! This surf lesson at Carrillo Beach is the perfect beach to learn how to surf. Taught by experienced surfers and surf instructors, these lessons should get you up and practicing riding the waves by the end of the lesson.

If you are staying in Playa Samara, someone will pick you up from your hotel and bring you to the beautiful white sand beach to meet any fellow classmates in your group. A group class makes for a fun dynamic where you might even make some new friends.

Your instructor will hand out high-quality surfing equipment and teach you the basics while on the beach. You’ll learn to lie on the board faced down and then “pop” up to a standing position. Once you have mastered this technique and a few others on land, you will head out into the ocean to put what you’ve learned into practice.

Carrillo Beach is perfect for beginners. The waves are small to medium sized and spaced out regularly. Your instructor will stay with your group in the water and will help you through your maneuvers.

This is an approximate 90 minute surf lesson for beginners who are learning the basics of surfing.

Transportation is included and can take between 10 and 20 minutes to get you to the beach depending on your hotel location. Included are: Surf equipment, transportation and bilingual instructor. Please prepare for being out in the sun by wearing sunscreen and rash guard for surfing.
