Double your fun by hitting remote tropical trails on an ATV, accelerating over hills, through forests, and crossing streams before sliding on over to an awe inspiring zipline adventure through a canopy of giant Guanacaste trees. This exciting duo is sure to get your adrenaline pumping as you explore the great outdoors of Costa Rica!
You’ll be picked up from your lodging and brought to ATV headquarters located on a privately owned preserve. You’ll meet the friendly bilingual guides who will take you over to a fleet of all Honda ATVs for safety instructions. You’ll be given a helmet and a demonstration of how to use the equipment. Don’t worry if you are a first timer, they will help you get the hang of it. Drivers must be 16 years old.
After a practice run to determine everyone’s ability level, you’ll head out through forest trails, climbing hills as you go. You’ll be traveling an hour or more over sand, dirt, clay and mud plus fording woodland streams. Your local guides will point out any wildlife that might be visible on the day of your visit. This area is home to monkeys, iguanas, pisotes, coatis, and exotic birds to name a few. You’ll make your way up into mountain terrain where on a clear day you can see all the way to the Pacific Ocean.
Upon your return, you’ll be ready to hit the tree tops and fly like a bird over spectacular scenic vistas only imaginable from the air. You’ll be helped into a safety harness and given a helmet and gloves to use. You’ll hike up to the first zipline platform where all the fun begins. Your guides will demonstrate the easy procedures to follow, then hook you onto the first cable.
Stabilized by your safety harness, you’ll glide into the tree tops to the next platform where another guide will be waiting to assist you to the following cable. There are 7 cables total, each with unique properties. There are long, fast, and steep cables to give you a range of ziplining experiences. You’ll quickly discover how easy it is and begin to take in the amazing scenery surrounding you.
Each platform is nestled high up in the giant Guanacaste trees, the pride of Costa Rica. These massive trees with their beautiful wide canopy provide shelter for many species of native flora and fauna. This protected tropical lowland forest has made a hugely successful comeback, a result of a massive reforestation project started years ago.
Along the way, your fun loving guides will show you a few ziplining tricks you can try. By hooking your harness onto the cable in a different way, you can fly horizontally like Superman, hands free, gazing down at the world spreading out beneath you. Letting go is an exhilarating experience as you effortlessly soar through the air.
After the last cable, there is one more surprise, the Tarzan Swing! Totally thrilling as you swing through the jungle just like in the movies. Many people have reported this was the highlight of their vacation. Your guides will take pictures for you, if you like, using your camera or cell phone.
When you’ve returned to headquarters, a cold bottle of water and fresh fruit will be waiting for you in the picnic area to help you replenish your energy. You can enjoy looking over your photos before saying your goodbyes to the wonderful people you’ve met on the tour.
