Hotel La Mariposa

Manuel Antonio

Good to Know

Hotel La Mariposa is a 4-star boutique hotel perched on a hillside in Manuel Antonio, offering captivating Pacific Ocean and national park views. Guests can enjoy a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, tropical gardens, and on-site dining at the restaurant and bar, all while savoring the elevated coastal outlook. While the beach requires transportation, the hotel provides a serene retreat with diverse room options, many featuring private balconies or terraces. It promises a memorable stay.

Leave an evening for the ocean view

The Pacific outlook is a good reason to leave an evening free at Hotel La Mariposa. From this boutique hotel on Manuel Antonio’s hillside, the ocean and national park become part of the view, with the pool, restaurant and bar inviting you to linger as daylight fades. Bring your plans back to the hotel early enough to enjoy it.

Give the hillside a day of its own

There is a particular pleasure in being back at La Mariposa before the afternoon has ended. Take a swim, spend time in the tropical gardens or settle into the Jacuzzi, then let a glass of wine and the Pacific outlook carry you toward dinner. The restaurant and bar make it possible to enjoy that change of light without moving on to another place.

For a more active day, Manuel Antonio opens up birdwatching, jungle safaris, ziplining, whitewater rafting and canyoning. A morning in Manuel Antonio National Park brings another reason to spend time outdoors before returning to the hotel. The beach is not within walking distance, so arrange transportation for time on the sand and leave an evening for the hilltop outlook.

Choose the outlook and space

Standard Garden View, Standard Ocean View, Ocean View and Premier Ocean View Rooms have air conditioning, cable TV, a hairdryer, safe, telephone and internet access. Breakfast is included with these four categories and the Double Connecting Room. Beyond everyday comfort, the differences in views, outdoor space and sleeping arrangements shape how you enjoy the hillside.

  • Standard Garden View Rooms have a sitting area and garden-view balcony; Standard Ocean View Rooms have a sitting area and private balcony with partial ocean and garden views.
  • Ocean View Rooms open onto a private terrace with panoramic ocean views.
  • Premier Ocean View Rooms have a futon for an extra guest. Some also have a kitchenette and private terrace with panoramic ocean and national park views.

  • The Penthouse Suite carries the amenities of the other rooms and has air conditioning and a private terrace with a Jacuzzi and panoramic ocean and national park views.

The view was stupendous, from the restaurant, pool and our room!!!!. Wished there had been a hot tub and coffeemaker in the room

It was nice but Arenal was better. Manual Antonia seemed more commercial all around than Arenal

Liliana F.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful, clean and the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating.

Gorgeous view of the coast from our room. Staff were very friendly

Very nice room, but it had mosquitoes in it when we got there. I got a ton of bites and then asked the front desk if we could switch rooms to one without mosquitoes. They told us not to leave the doors open (which we didn't because the bugs were already there) and then came with Raid to kill the bugs.

We were very disappointed to be given a dark and damp smelling 'garden view' room with a view of the car park!!! We complained and with your help were given a better room. Thank you.

Received upgrade to Ocean view suite, staff was very profeesional. Post cards mailed from there have never arrived

Very nice boutique hotel. Our room was wonderful.

View and location are wonderful. Our room was very dated. Appreciated the big balcony and cleanliness, but the king size bed was hard as rock. The small bed for the kids was nice and comfy. Loved the pool. Bartenders weren't the friendliest, but the view makes up for it. All other staff was very welcoming. Breakfast buffet was decent.

View great as advertised. Room though a disappointment. It was curious that the room, while large was almost devoid of furniture save for the beds. No bedside lights just a glaring fluorescent ceiling fixture. Bathroom was inferior. Perhaps we just got the one bad room but if this room was typical I could not recommend the hotel. However the view from the patio, the swimming pool, and the restaurant pretty much made up for some disappointment in the room itself. We were pleasantly surprised at how many decent restaurants were nearby and thus giving an option over eating at the hotel. Also the bus service to the beach was cheap and easy to navigate.

Fabulous views from the room! Could watch the sun rise over the jungle each morning and the sun set over the ocean each evening from the room. We enjoyed Breakfast overlooking the ocean and the awesome infinity pool. Absolutely breathtaking!

Oh My Gosh!! I would rate this above 10!! I am so glad we switched to Hotel La Mariposa! I LOVED OUR TIME THERE! The views are spectacular and the pool was absolutely fabulous. I so appreciate that they put two couples side by side in the front and the 3rd couple right about us. This place is a MUST for anyone wondering were to stay in Manuel Antonio! It is worth every penny. The breakfast was good, the ambiance was relaxing the the views are to die for! LOVED IT! Plus we got great videos of a sloth climbing the tree by the bar!

David T.

Everything about the experience was a 10, but I would rate the staff even higher than 10 to indicate that their attentiveness, helpfulness, and friendliness made our stay at the Mariposa particularly memorable.

Dacia A.

This hotel had the most spectacular views from almost any area, with a beautiful infinity pool. the staff was polite but a bit stuffy.
