The pools and grounds were the most amazing I have ever seen.
The shuttle to and from the rooms was quick, but felt like we always had to bother someone to call for the shuttle. Wish it had a set route that would pass the bus stops every 15-30 mins and you only called if you need ed door service for luggage or physical restrictions.
The room was huge! The down fall was the room had 1 chair inside and no table for a card game, eating, or mapping out trails. The porch had 2 seats out front and 2seats in the back. The room is for 4, but you could not sit down together.

Great hotel. Rooms were comfortable, a lot of breakfast options. Enjoyed the paths to lookout, hot springs and pools. Food at restaurants was very good.

Great hot springs, good breakfast buffet and dinner offerings. Didn't like that we were so far from the main resort and had to call a van whenever we wanted to go anywhere. wished there were convenient transport into to town to eat at restaurants.

Our 8-year old family members loved the water slides, and finally convinced 78-year old grandma to try it.The various sizes and temperatures of pools kept the adults entertained, and it was easy to feel private. We did not like the dinner we had at the restaurant. Everything was extremely salty, and most of us didn’t finish our meal. The breakfasts were great!

Totally %100 recommend this location for the whole family. We loved it. A great BIG shot out to Valentina the restaurant host and distracted Luis Ramirez for such quick response with our medical needs for my sister. The Doctor at the local clinic was very very knowledgeable and quick to treat my sister with medical and advice.

Buffet breakfast was tasty with a large selection of items. Restaurant dinner menu was extensive and the food was delicious, well presented, and portions were large. A shout out to Mario and Michael for their great service! Also, the manager Kimberly was very accommodating in providing us with a special dish not on the menu. Loved the bar, which also serves great food.
The grounds are beautiful and the large amount of pools and hot springs was amazing. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Hotel shuttle service runs very smoothly. The entire staff is dedicated to taking care of its guests in a friendly and professional manner.
Would definitely stay here again!

This is a great place to stay with kids. I not sure it would be my top pick if we were traveling just with adults. I can't imagine kids having a better motel experience than Los Lagos.

The hotel exceeded my expectations; we didn’t expect such a big resort! The views, once we relocated to a new room, were stunning! The gardens were spectacular. It felt more impersonal and we didn’t get to interact with the staff, but everything was perfect nonetheless. Having no car, we had to have all of our meals on site, which was expensive. Great shuttle service around the hotel!

What an amazing lodge! Hot springs, pools, and a really exciting slide. An unparalleled view of the volcano from our bedroom. We spotted our first toucan and peccary there! Staff were all very friendly.

Positives: Beautiful property! Lots of swimming pools and hot tubs. Efficient towel service. Friendly and helpful staff in reception. The food at the Wet Bar was excellent and was a decent price. The free breakfasts were terrific with loads of choices. Most of the wait staff were nice. Negatives: Breakfast ended at 9 o'clock, which is pretty early for those who like to sleep in and relax before doing afternoon activities. The WiFi was really poor. You had to go to the Lobby to get a good connection. In this day and age, this shouldn't happen. Our room was so far away that we had to phone ahead for a shuttle to take us anywhere. This was inconvenient. Our room was good for 2 people, but crowded for three.

Los Lagos was fantastic to stay at! We spent every night in the hot springs and enjoyed drinks from the pool bar. The little store on site was also great for purchasing any last minute items we needed. The food in the morning was good and the rooms were very clean. We even scheduled treatments at the spa on site and the massages were FABULOUS. The only "con" is that our unit was up the hill, giving us a slight trek every day (but we needed the exercise anyways). Just a note for people who would want lower level units etc.

We enjoyed this hotel (this was a second visit) and will return. My low rating came from the lack of housekeeping. Our room wasn't restocked or cleaned once during our visit and I needed to reach out twice for more towels and toiletries.

The interior of the room was very disappointing when we arrived. The bedding was was very bad. 1 sheet & a polyester blanket. Very skimpy. The bathroom was in poor condition. It felt more like a hostel that a hotel. The chairs out side need new pads. The views were spectacular though out the front & back. The overall grounds & amenities of the hotel were great!

This was my favorite hotel of our 3 we visited in our 10 day stay. Absolutely beautiful grounds, wonderful and fresh breakfast, friendly and reliable shuttle drivers to get you back and forth to your rooms. So much to do right there on the grounds that it could easily be all inclusive and you would never have to leave! Loved the swim up bar and hot pools!

Hotel was full, Food OK, Hotel was correct without much atmosphere, we missed a little bit of familiarity - emotion considering it was Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The bottom pool was pretty turpid by the end of the day. The pool is old and not very clean. Drinks at the bar overpriced. The room was clean, missing the possibility to make a warm drink like tea or coffee, only one armchair lacking in comfort for a bedroom for a family of 4. Too few hooks or line to dry wet clothes considering it rains most of the time. A tour on horseback in the rainforest offered by the hotel was very nice with Daniel. Check-out lady at the reception was unfriendly - almost spoiling our good mood.

Beautiful hotel and the staff were so nice!! We enjoyed our stay and were happy to find vegan options in the breakfast bar. We were happy that it was close to La Fortuna which we visited and our hike guide (Mario de la O) recommended a vegan restaurant called Organica Fortuna which was so delicious and we were so grateful for his recommendation.

This was an odd set-up. The food was awful - tasteless. We regularly took a taxi into La Fortuna for food. The layout of the hotel grounds was tricky for us without a car. We sometimes walked down to the restaurant but if it was raining we could be soaked. The hotel transport was useful and obliging but we like to be more spontaneous.

This was the best hotel I have stayed at on a vacation in years! Everyone was so nice! The front desk, the shuttle drivers, the restaurant waiters and hostess and even the towel lady at the pool (Laura) was so professional, kind and helpful. The rooms were very nice, I loved the back patio and despite the fact I was a long ways from the restaurant, the shuttle would come to pick me up within a few minutes every time I called. The tilapia served in the restaurant are farmed right on the hotel property. The hot spring pools with the water massage chairs/jets were heavenly after a long day! I will definitely go back!!

The hotel was amazing and so beautiful and all the pools were so nice and it was really a great place. Our only complaint was that the sound from the room next to us carried a lot and it was not sound proof at all. We kept getting noisy neighbours and didn’t sleep much since even when we asked them to be quieter they weren’t. Please let the hotel know. I am not sure if they can do anything to sound proof it but at least then they know it’s an issue. Makes for cranky kids when there is no sleep.

We had so much fun at this hotel. All the different pools and slides. It was extremely hilly though so walking to the room wasn't a walk in the park. The breakfast was EXCELLENT, so many options and loved the fresh tortillas for breakfast. Plus, there was a nice on-site nature walk.

Loved Los Lagos. We had one issue after a hard rain where the ceiling leaked but it was promptly fixed. The grounds were so lush and green. We enjoyed the daily breakfast. We at most dinners in town.

We enjoyed staying here although were grateful to have our own car as it's a bit of a trek to the pools and restaurant. The restaurant is on the expensive side and you're a bit of a captive audience. One trip to the breakfast buffet seems to encourage people to load their plates and leads to waste. We liked that the hotel was eco friendly. They also provided a packed breakfast on the day that we had an early pickup.

The hotel was really nice! The multiple pools and spa was amazing. The one issue we had with this location was our hotel rooms were on the opposite side of the resort as our family. There is a shuttle but he takes lunch and dinner breaks and no one runs the shuttle during this time. This made it very inconvenient when you are staying at the top of the resort. Also there is no wifi in any of the rooms. This was very disappointing.

Los Lagos was a great place to stay. The staff very helpful, but somewhat more behind the scenes. You didn't really notice the staff that much, but very friendly and helpful when we needed something. The grounds and facilities at Los Lagos were top notch! It was so beautiful! The pools, the flowers everywhere, the birds and butterflies, and especially the scenery. Wow! What a beautiful place!! The restaurant was very good, with a lot of good options. The free breakfast was the best I have ever seen.

The hotel exceeded our expectations. Food, drinks and coffee should be available 24/7. Coffee in the room would be nice. Bars open earlier for mimosas or bloody Mary’s in the pool. We really didn’t see or interact with staff unless we took it upon ourselves to go to the front desk.

IMPORTANT! This is really two hotels. One with rooms that are close to the main complex. this is what we liked. The other set of rooms are very private and a shuttle ride away. For us that is terrible but some people may like that better, we did not like that at all. Fortunately, the staff was able to transfer us to the main building on our third day so we were where we wanted to be for half the time.

The best part about this hotel are the dozens of swimming pools of all different temperatures. Most have slides and one even has a swim-up bar. One evening we got to soak in the hot pool while listening to live music. The location was also amazing right at the base of the volcano. We recommend the steep hike up to the Mirador for a great view.

The hotel was good but there was no WIFI in the room. We had a standard room which do not provide a kettle in such "cheap" room of 200$ per night. I would expect to have this minimal item - notably, in every hotel with much lower prices this item is provided.

The room could have had more amenities such as microwave (which Cala Lodge had). The lobby staff was good but not great, again, like Cala Lodge. Also, most importantly, it was quite far from La Fortuna. It was not close enough to walk there which we would have liked for dining. At Cala Lodge, we could walk to the "city" center (about a 20 min walk) whereas La Fortuna as probably an hour walk away on the road, no paths or sidewalks. That is the biggest negative.

A wonderful family hotel! The resort is beautifully landscaped, we enjoyed the many plants and regularly checked on ‘our’ butterflies, ants, frogs and the crocodile. The best thing are the pools. Some are with refreshingly cool water, some are hot, so there is no end to swimming. There are several water slides on top of the pools for relaxing, some of which even end in hot water. The kids had so much fun! There are a lot of activities on offer directly from the hotel and the zip lining even starts on site. It was a great experience. The entire resort is made from something that looks like fake logs, so it has a bit of a ‘dinoland’ feel to it. It’s a few miles away from La Fortuna and you can’t really get there without a car, so your meal choices are limited to the hotel if you don’t have your own transportation. When the clouds lift, the volcano is in full sight in all its glory!

The hotel concierge was disappointing, they recommended and sold us a tour to the volcano that certainly wasn’t worth the amount we paid which was $240 for the four of us. The woman at the front desk was not honest about her recommendation.

Great hotel, shame that the wifi was weak and didn;t extend to the rooms. The lobby also closed very early on certain nights. Souvenier shop was under construction so there was no way to buy anything without leaving the resort.

This hotel was a bit more "disneylandesk" than we generally prefer, but we really have no complaints about it. The breakfasts were OUT OF THIS WORLD and the pools with the different temperatures of water were very pleasant. The front desk staff could have been more friendly. My teenage sons were disappointed in the lack of wifi in the rooms.

Beautiful grounds and resort activities! It's a perfect place for families as kids loved the hot springs waterslides, the pools, the rainforest animal on property, and the barns. We did zip-lining on the grounds, which was fantastic and a highlight for the kids. Overall, we loved living in the lush greenery for four days.

There was only one restaurant that was very expensive and no small convenience store to buy small goods. Other that than, it was excellent. The pools were fantastic - much better than the Tabacon Hot springs that we paid extra for. I am glad we stayed here and not at the Tabacon. The resort shuttle was essential because our villa was so far up the hill but the service was really good. Oh, the wifi was very bad in the room. That was disappointing because going to the lobby was difficult due to the hill and how far it was. But the room was beautiful and well equipped.

The resort far exceeded our expectations. The view of the volcano was amazing, the waterslides were far better than I expected, the staff was courteous and helpful, the room was great. I would recommend this resort to absolutely anyone, especially if they have kids because of pools and waterslides.

Slides in the pool were great for the kids. Staff was very friendly and efficient. Lots to do on the grounds, so we all had a good time.

Good family hotel but the food at the swimming bar, was truly horrible and expensive. The kids loved the pools and slides as well as the butterfly and crocodile enclosures.

Our nieces loved this place but it was very large and impersonal and too disneyland-like for me. On one hand, the thermal pools were pleasant and there were also remote areas I could walk and look for birds.

The hotel exceeded our expectations!! The staff greeted us and offered helpful information about the resort. They had any and everything we wanted in our trip!

This hotel was amazing. There were so many things to do there. The mattresses were a little springy but other than that, it was perfect.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful and the staff was incredible. Our next door neighbors were extremely rowdy one night and the hotel staff were quick to accommodate us and transfer us to another room. We had an incredible time at Hotel Lagos.

Great resort! Beautiful location. Rooms and resort grounds were wonderful. Loved the extra perk of having a trail leading through a butterfly garden and frog and leaf cutting ant enclosure. Food was very good.

The room had the smell of moth balls and generally was stuffy. There was no internet in the rooms and the breakfast had such limited options for vegetarians. I am OK with less options but I cannot be required to pay the same amount if all I get is toast and fruits. So we probably felt short changed. We had booked the property for our return but had to cancel for these reasons.

Los Lagos is a nice place, but kind of tucked away too far from downtown. Nice pools, good restaurant, nice grounds. The room left a lot to be desired. Poor AC, very worn and dated. Hard beds. Clean and ok, but for the money spent, not worth it.

We really thought the resort was wonderful. However, we wish we were aware that it was quite hilly to get to our rooms and some roads were very dark at night.

The pools and staff were great, the cottages were up a steep hill so not great if you are mobility impaired. There were some bugs (sugar ants mostly) in the room but that's expected in the jungled. We were not fans of the rock hard mattresses however. The room was great and we had awesome massages

What a wonderful resort! Loved the crocodiles, leaf-cutter ant farm, tree farm, butterfly garden, turtle pond, etc. Such a beautiful place!

Had a small issue with the first room. Couldn't change first night, but changed the next night at no extra charge Very nice. Meals were decent, a little expensive, but good waiter/waitress staff.

Room was fine and functional. Pool area was amazing! Hot spring and cold pools were beautiful. Swim up bar was lots of fun and happening. My teen boys LOVED the water slides. Gorgeous landscaping. Staff, especially shuttle drivers, were very nice and friendly and the shuttle came quickly when called. Breakfast was also delicious, and we ate two very nice dinners at the hotel restaurant. My only frustration was changing dollars either small bills or colones so I could tip drivers and tour guides. They always claimed they did not have change for $20, until I told them it was for tips. Its a small thing, but thought you would want to know. Next time, I would bring $50 or so in singles. You might want to recommend that.

My only comment on this restaurant is that the restaurant could be better ie offer more variety at breakfast for those of us who can't consume dairy. As well, the dinner menu was too expensive and not very good.

The food options and quality left a lot to be desired. The dinner buffet had minimal options and was quite expensive per person. The restaurant was better priced but the quality of the food wasn't great. In addition, they should have a "snack" menu for in between meals or if you've come back from a long excursion. This area could definitely use a boost.

Grounds are beautiful. Butterflies, frogs and ants exhibits are very good. The hot spring pools and slides were a huge hit with the kids and parents. Breakfast was good but the other meals at the resort were lacking both at the restaurant and the pool bar. The air conditioner in our room didn't work and it was very humid. The maintenance staff was not equipped to repair it. All he did was change the batteries in the remote (which had nothing to do with it). We loved the grounds, the view and location enough that none of the less than perfect things affected us terribly but pickier travelers might find it less than exceptional. For us, the pool slides, view and grounds were the right choice. We ate out most meals (either on excursions or at the Que Rico down the road) so we loved this hotel - especially because the boys loved the pools and slides.

This property was not our first choice. We booked late and ended up in a room far from the pool and restaurant. A shuttle was provided and often picked us up along the road. It certainly was adequate and comfortable. We all felt that being made to wear wristbands to identify us as guests was a little bit tacky. The restaurant was nice and the breakfast was quite good. The exhibits on the property were underwhelming. The view of the volcano was amazing from the property.
