Great hotel with delicious meals and very friendly staff and management. Again, a little out of the way from the little town, but as meals were included in the service, it was no big problem

Pirate Cove Hotel is a charming ecolodge nestled in Drake Bay, offering a comfortable base for exploring Costa Rica's Osa Peninsula and Corcovado National Park. Guests enjoy a nature-centric stay with all meals included, fostering a relaxed coastal rhythm. Accommodations range from bungalows with hammocks to cabins with Pacific views, ensuring a serene retreat after adventurous outings. This 2-star property boasts a 9.56 overall rating, reflecting its exceptional service and value.
At Pirate Cove Hotel, a hammock on a terrace and a day exploring the Osa can belong in the same itinerary. This small Drake Bay ecolodge gives families, couples and solo travelers a comfortable base near Corcovado National Park, with breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Nature shapes the stay, while the restaurant and bar give the hours between outings a sociable place to unfold.
Bungalows have screened windows, polished wooden floors and orthopedic mattresses, with private bathrooms and ceiling fans. Step onto the small terrace for the hammock and chairs, making an afternoon at your accommodation part of the appeal. Cabins add storage space and private terraces with hammocks and deck chairs looking toward both the Pacific and Drake River, with private bathrooms, ceiling fans and 24-hour electricity.
Standard Rooms offer screened windows, a private bathroom with hot water, air conditioning, a table and deck chairs. Air conditioning is also available in the Bungalow, Cabin and Cabin Deluxe categories. Layout, outlook and outdoor space still distinguish the choices, so compare the room you are arranging rather than expecting every category to feel the same.
Corcovado visits, snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing and whale-watching outings give you different ways to explore forest and sea. After a day outdoors, return for a meal and time on the terrace. The appeal is a simpler coastal rhythm: excursions worth making, and comfortable accommodation that gives you room to enjoy being back.
Flights and boats to the hotel have a 25-pound-per-person baggage limit, so pack around the journey as well as the stay. Our price includes a $15 per person national park fee that cannot be refunded in cases of cancellation. Keep those arrangements in mind as you choose your room and plan the Drake Bay portion of the vacation.

We enjoyed our stay at Pirate Cove. The staff were pleasant, attentive and helpful in all interactions. The food was enjoyable and plentiful. It was very good planning to include a full meal plan as part of the stay. There really wouldn't have been good options to figure out where to eat in Drake Bay outside of the hotel.

I truly enjoyed my stay at this small lodge. The whole staff was nice and the managers where taking good care of all clients. The food and presentation was great. The bungalow you proposed was a great idea" so comfortable with such a cosy setting. I truly enjoyed myself there.

Meals were excellent, a bit too much food ☺️

Location is spectacular, as is the view. Loved our room and the balcony with hammock, table and chairs. The food is truly fantastic and portions are huge! In addition to being very tasty, the plates are presented beautifully. All the staff are super friendly, accommodating and seem genuinely happy you are there. Nelson was especially helpful in facilitating our transfer to Sierpe.

The staff went above and beyond to make our stay as pleasant as possible, We especially appreciated the ladies in the kitchen, who provided us with delicious home-cooked meals throughout our stay. The location was excellent too: right at the beach, a perfect starting point for our hikes and tours.

Loved this hotel and the staff!

Lovely place, we were a bit upset that dinner was at 6 on the dot and we missed the sun set every night. Allowing for a bit of flexibility or starting g later would have been great. Great spot though and nicely laid back.

Everything we expected and more. This is a more rustic hotel than others but that's how it's advertised. Rooms were clean and comfortable with nice views. Food which is included is key as your'e in the middle of the country and a walk to town. You're definitely 'out there' so to speak but enjoyed the experience and staff was very relaxed, laid back, helpful and friendly. Food was good and especially enjoyed the open-air dining room and sharing experiences with other international guest. Definitely a place to relax away from civilization. Only minor complaint was the heavy dump trucks moving gravel from stream bed on same road as hotel. During the day some dust and noise but that did not detract much from the experience and future travelers don't hessitate to use as this was seasonal local activity necessary to maintain the =grav

It was surreal being the only guest for the first few days, but my hosts were absolutely lovely, the food was DELICIOUS, and I was able to sleep comfortably in my room with no issues. Gorgeous views, convenient but secluded location. I loved my time there!

Loved the situation of this hotel. Would have preferred an air conditioning. HATED the rigid 6.30 eating time, the common dining experience and the rushed food service. Food quality was good

this is THE place. we all will come back. One guy of the crew over all.....PRIMO, who teached us the real value of the PURA VIDA living

The rating is for the bungalows; the room is on the contrary just above the kitchen and so, inevitably, quite noisy starting from 4 AM, they are also small and without seaview. We think that the rooms are probably not worth to stay in, especially if they cost as much as the bungalows (we know neverthelss that there was no other way for us, in that dates).

Wonderful place with a great view. Having kayaks to use was a bonus.

We enjoyed staying here. The room was perhaps a little small for four adults, and the shower was tepid rather than hot. But this didn't really matter. The food was great, although families with picky eaters might have battled a bit with the lack of choice. We liked that we could use the kayaks, and that there was coffee and juice available all day. The setting was beautiful and the sunsets were magnificent.
