Hotel Conchal

Central Guanacaste

Good to Know

Small-scale hospitality and private poolside patios make Hotel Conchal a homey base in Brasilito. Walk toward Playa Brasilito or set out by car to other Guanacaste beaches, then return for a swim and a meal. Standard and Superior Rooms include breakfast; Superior adds living space. Choose the accommodation around your party and leave time for beach days as well as nearby adventures.

A homey base among Guanacaste's beaches

A private poolside patio and a walk toward the Pacific give Hotel Conchal a welcoming rhythm in Brasilito. This small boutique-style hotel sits in a rustic Costa Rican town, with Playa Brasilito close at hand and other Guanacaste beaches waiting beyond. It suits a trip that balances time on the coast with the comforts of a homey base.

Playa Flamingo is nearby, while Playa Grande, Tamarindo and Matapalo are among the beaches reached by a short drive. Choose a beach for the day, then return for a swim at the hotel and a meal at the restaurant. The bar and internet access make an evening on site easy to enjoy.

The area brings sailing, snorkeling and fishing into your plans, along with nature walks, birdwatching, wildlife excursions, shopping trips, whitewater rafting and ziplining. There is no need to fit them all in; leave time to enjoy the beach-town setting between adventures.

A patio to return to

Standard Rooms include breakfast, air conditioning, a ceiling fan, cable television, refrigerator, in-room safe and a private poolside patio. Superior Rooms include those same comforts with more living space. That extra room can make a difference when you want to settle in for more than a quick overnight.

Honeymoon and family categories add further choices in the room selection. Compare the individual category for your party rather than assuming every room has the same layout or outdoor space.

Personal service adds to the homey feel, and nearby Playa Conchal brings another snorkeling option into a coastal trip. Leave an evening for a sunset by the coast, then return to the poolside patio. Couples and families, including those with small children, can choose their room around that easy beach-day rhythm.

Hotel Conchal was quite different and the room a little disappointing when compared to our first accommodations at Los Logas. However by the end of the stay we had adjusted and really enjoyed our time. The breakfast was included, but was much more limited in the choices which included a small plate of fresh fruit instead of unlimited options. The staff were wonderful and very helpful with any questions we had. They had a full restaurant and we had a delicious meal on our last night. The rooms all surround the small pool area with lots of tropical plants. There were iguanas and a beautiful white tailed jay that kept us entertained. The staff kept everything clean My only complaint would be the noise from guests who stayed up late talking loudly by the pool. The walls are thin and it was hard to tune them out.

Only a location actually on the beach could make this a better experience. The hotel was fine, the restaurant was excellent (we ate there three times, in addition to the daily breakfast). The walk to the beach is not beautiful, and Brasilito Beach is also not particularly lovely. Conchal Beach is a bit of a slog to get to, and is nicer past the resort and the actual shell beach. We drove to Playa Flamingo and Playa Tamarindo as well, so the hotel was well located to visit a number of nearby beaches, which we appreciated. The staff at reception and in the restaurant were all very friendly and there was a good vibe from the other guests as well.

We were glad to be not too far from the beach.

Rooms were very nice, staff was very friendly and resort was clean. My sister and her husband loved this resort and said they went out of their way to make sure they were taken care of. They even saw monkeys in the tree by the resort. They also commented that the restaurant on the property was really good.

Hilda was a terrific hostess and her staff was warm and friendly. The Conchal is a cute hotel that is very clean and well-maintained, and we felt comfortable hanging out by the pool and restaurant. The complimentary breakfast was very good and we appreciated being able to help ourselves to coffee throughout the day. The bed was too firm for us, but that was the case at all of the hotels during our trip; it appears that they have all abandoned innerspring mattresses in favor of foam beds. Dinners in the restaurant were good, but not great, and were not a great value for the price. Our room had a finished concrete floor (versus wood or tile). The floor was clean, but it makes the room feel like a cell. The room refrigerator was off and I don't know if it was operational. The hotel is not convenient to the beach or most of the other restaurants in Brasalito.

On a trip that was already amazing the staff at this hotel topped them all - friendliest and most helpful, encouraging of our speaking Spanish and helping us with pronunciation! Waiters and kitchen staff especially were the best ever! Would stay here forever if we could! Dinner meals were out of this world good - so much so that I spoke to the chef personally - which I have never done before in my life...yes it was that good - I am not a fan of beef overall, but ordered filet mignon because they did not have the fish I wanted the first night...and then ordered it again the third night because it was so good!
