Set on a bluff overlooking the beach, Arenas del Mar Beach and Nature Resort delivers one of the most luxurious hotels in Manuel Antonio. The thirty-eight room boutique style hotel has left little to the imagination, providing everything one could wish for out of a beach and rainforest hotel. One of the prestigious Cayuga Collection, an international award winning group of sustainable eco resorts, the luxury hotel carries a five-star as well as a five leaf rating. Guests will enjoy amenities such as a swimming pool, restaurant and bar, spa, WiFi in most areas, and tropical gardens.
Manuel Antonio is Costa Rica's most popular beach destination. The palm-studded beaches are gorgeous, backed by rolling green forested hills. Wildlife is abundant not only in the national park but also in the entire area. It is not uncommon to see monkeys, sloths, or parrots right behind the beach!
Manuel offers visitors loads of fun and memorable activities. A visit to Manuel Antonio National Park is practically obligatory. The park is the smallest of Costa Rica's national parks but one of the best for observing wildlife. A guided visit to the park will likely yield the best animal photos of your vacation! Romantic catamaran cruises will take you along the lush Central Pacific coastline. They allow you to relax with a few drinks and enjoy a slower pace. Adventurers will not be disappointed with Manuel Antonio as it offers more adventure activities than any other area in Costa Rica. Enjoy high-flying canopy ziplines, whitewater rafting in tropical rivers, canyoneering down rainforest waterfalls, or surfing the warm Pacific waters.
While Manuel Antonio has plenty to offer, you can also just relax and enjoy the resort amenities. The hotel is on an 11-acre plot of rainforest that is loaded with wildlife and ends at the beach. The beach below and in front of the resort is gorgeous. Walking the property and looking for exotic birds, monkeys, and sloths can be a lot of fun. Of course, swimming, boogie boarding, and relaxing down at the beach is a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. The resort also offers complimentary yoga classes.
Arenas del Mar's own Las Brisas Wellness Center provides a variety of health and beauty treatments and therapies. Enjoy a facial, a massage, or a custom treatment. Reservations are necessary for spa services, and the hotel recommends doing so at least a day in advance.
Dining at the resort's restaurants is delightful. They focus on offering healthy dishes with local ingredients whenever possible. Overlooking the beach, the open-air El Mirador Restaurant and Bar offers fresh seafood and Costa Rican dishes for breakfast and dinner. They offer gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan dishes on request. The El Mirador Bar offers a large variety of tropical drinks, craft beers, and an extensive wine selection. The Playitas Restaurant and Bar serves lunch and drinks at the beach area of the lower part of the property.
All rooms at Arenas del Mar Resort are tastefully decorated and offer air-conditioning and ceiling fans, cable TV, coffee maker and local coffee, WiFi, phone, in-room safe deposit box, bathrobe, and a spacious bathroom with shower. Please check the Amenities Section for a detailed list of what is included in each room category.

Excellent hotel! Would stay there again.
Rather expensive, but we loved the hotel, room, staff, beach, food...
Gorgeous resort and surroundings. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The added bonus of the upgrade to a suite for our honeymoon made this extra special. Can’t wait to go back.
Excellent in every way. I plan on returning. Staff was great!
Hotel staff was friendly, included breakfast was great, we did not eat dinner at this resort again after the first night.
The staff at this hotel went above and beyond to make us feel like royalty. The room was gorgeous, and the views were spectacular. The hotel’s restaurant was quite delectable, and the private beach was exactly how I envisioned Costa Rica’s beaches in my mind. I look forward to the thought of returning one day!
This place was breathtakingly gorgeous!
The room was air conditioned, but a lot of the resort was not. It was beautiful. The atmosphere was great, and the staff was amazing.
Beautiful hotel!!! The staff is awesome.
This is a 5 star resort food, staff location, beach everything was great our dream resort
Was very nice and great service. Was a little older than expected and due to renovations, the nice restaurant was closed but understandable since it was off-season.
Hotel was very nice but the room was quite small when you compare it to others for what you pay. Nonetheless it as quite beautiful and the staff extremely friendly.
Hard to compare after staying at Nayara so may be a little biased. Room was a little small with nowhere to sit except outside on balcony. The staff was extremely friendly and service was great. Again, compared to Nayara, the choices for eating were limited but food at Playitas was very good. Walk from property to Manuel Antonio along the beach was nice.
We were disatissfied with the room and food offerings
Beautiful hotel. Loved the grounds and thank goodness for the golf carts. I have food allergies and they remembered my issues which was so appreciated. Kind staff and excellent stay.
This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. The staff was amazing and the views incredible.
This hotel exceeded expectations. I can not wait to come back !!
Exceptional hotel start to finish.
We loved our suite and thought this was the most beautifully situated property. The hotel has a great staff and the bar and restaurants are good. They have happy hour and special movie nights for the kids which was fun.
From the time we arrived with the golf cart all decked out with balloons and sign for our fifty anniversary to the fabulous private dinner on the beach and the beautiful flower arrangement it was a trip we will never forget.
Great place right on the beach. Staff was excellent!
The Good: Wonderful private beach and beach staff. Great Bell staff and always on time, every time. Everyone got us where we wanted to go, when we wanted to go. Absolutely loved the location and grounds.
The Not So Good: (And VERY frustrating). We paid for the Ocean Breeze with outdoor jaccuzzi overlooking the beach. It worked exactly 1 night of our 5 night stay. The other 4 nights the pump would attempt to begin but would not find power to cause flow. We called, they would send someone later, and it still would not work when we tried to use it later in the evening. We were able to use it for about an hour on our last night at the resort. I really think there should be some type of restitution on this matter since it was a highlight of booking that particular class of suite.
Finally, I suppose ice is a prized commodity there. We had to CONSTANTLY request ice and they would bring a small amount in a small unninsulated bucket and ice would be gone in minutes. Call again, ask for larger bucket and get one but it would be 1/2 full at best. I really got tired of tipping for an ice delivery every 25 minutes.
Must try to do something about lizards in the room. I know the place is surrounded woods and they are very cautious about environment but the lizards in the room is just not good thing.
The staff was impeccable. Always asking if we needed anything. They arranged transportation every night when we went to dinner. Very eager to make sure we had a good time. Excellent choice. Also right on the beach.
Magical place. We have never encountered a hotel or service like this in our life. Will definitely return even though it is costly.
The staff was exceptionally accommodating especially with providing Elaine a special bed.
