Hacienda Guachipelin

Rincon de la Vieja

Good to Know

Hacienda Guachipelin is a hacienda-style adventure base at Rincón de la Vieja. Its activity center has options such as tubing, ziplining, horseback riding and waterfall rappelling. Hot springs, a pool and spa balance the active days; confirm the activities included in your chosen arrangements.

Adventure and hacienda afternoons at Guachipelin

At the foot of Rincón de la Vieja, Hacienda Guachipelin brings Guanacaste's hacienda character together with a lively outdoor itinerary. Tropical dry forest surrounds the hotel, and the adventure center makes it easy to shape a stay around volcanic trails, river activities and time in the canopy.

Choose the tempo of your adventure

The landscape gives each activity a different perspective. A horse ride follows volcanic trails at a different rhythm; hiking puts you closer to the forest, while a zipline carries you through the canopy. Tubing and waterfall rappelling bring water and rock into the experience. Choose the activities you most want to enjoy, leaving space afterward for a hot-spring soak. Confirm which activities are included in your vacation arrangements.

Slow down at the hacienda

Between adventures, return to the swimming pool or book a massage at the spa. The restaurant emphasizes Costa Rican recipes and farm-to-table ingredients, keeping the region present even in the quieter hours of the day.

Rustic touches in the rooms and suites preserve the hacienda atmosphere alongside modern comforts. Families can compare larger accommodation, and couples can consider a suite for more room between outings. Solar energy, composting and water conservation keep sustainability connected to the day-to-day running of the property. Staff assistance can help you shape the balance of exploring and unwinding.

What to consider when choosing this stay

  • The foot of Rincón de la Vieja and surrounding tropical dry forest give the hacienda a distinctly Guanacaste setting, suited to travelers who want adventure to shape their vacation.
  • The on-site adventure center brings hiking, horseback riding, canopy ziplining, river tubing and waterfall rappelling into the choice of stay. Confirm which activities your vacation arrangements include.
  • Natural hot springs offer a slower counterpoint to the active options, so you can balance the itinerary rather than fill every day with strenuous excursions.
  • A swimming pool and spa massages make downtime at the hotel appealing after volcanic trails or a river outing.
  • The restaurant’s farm-to-table ingredients and Costa Rican recipes keep meals connected to the region, with a convenient return after a day outside.
  • Rooms and suites combine traditional touches and rustic elegance with modern comforts; compare individual categories for the space and facilities your party wants.
  • Solar energy, composting and water-conservation practices support the hotel’s environmental emphasis. Staff assistance adds a practical resource when shaping your mix of activity and downtime.

Comfortable place, nice facility and food was excellent. Staff was helpful

John P.

Loved it, although breakfast's weren't up to the same standard as elsewhere, and although fruit juice and coffee were served to the table this was usually very slow and maybe better to let guests serve themselves.

Mark M.

A bit more rustic than we had anticipated and the staff wasn't as friendly as other places.

Brenda B.

no comfortable sitting in the room, no included water provided, limited restaurant choices

Shraddah J.

we had a wonderful time at this place and the adventure park was exceptional. In particular the guides at the adventure park were amazing! However, our mattress was very uncomfortable and there were only two pillows provided for each bed. I should have called to get more pillows, but I kept putting it off. It would be much better if they had a softer mattress and provided four pillows for each bed.

The food is Not fresh... Poor quality

This is a unique expansive property, with lush landscaping and a lot to do without leaving. It was nice to be able to go hiking right on the property. Our room was large and comfortable. The food and drinks were excellent. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Gillian P.

I was worried 3 nights would be too long but it was perfect. Plenty to do. No buffet but restaurant you have to book was nicer & no more expensive than the one you don't book! Birthday balloons & fancy towel arrangement for me even tho my bithday was on the 7th, the day we arrived............

Mark B.

A bit more rustic, but the change of pace was very enjoyable

Taryn B.

Beds are really hard. Not as many food choices as the other two hotels, but we still loved our time there.

Really nice hotel

Fabulous self contained hotel with lots of activities !

Weronika J.

The hotel bed was very very uncomfortable, so hard with no give. The grounds were very nice.

William B.

beds were terrible, site was very beautiful and easy to access the different activities via the shuttle.

Marisa J.

It's a great hotel, and the one day adventure pass they offer is our favourite tour of the trip. I wish they would have a hairdryer available to use in our room but other than that it was awesome!

Dalit M.

Room was great and very clean. I love this hotel and the area and what it offers! could have stayed here another night to enjoy area more. highly recommend.

Linda S.

There grounds are lovely and so is the staff. Is was great that we had access to the waterfalls and hot springs! The only drawback is that the beds were very hard & uncomfortable. There was no hot water for the showers and the water pressure was too low to wash my hair. I would not stay here again.

Eduardo B.

Unfortunately, not the best hotel. Looks antiquated and the restaurant is not very good. Went out to eat in Liberia several times.

Helen C.

Great place! I loved that the adventures were on site!

Alisa M.

Definitely would stay here again and again! Absolutely fantastic!

Guest review

Food options were amazing. Rooms a bit dated and run down. Sheets need replacing. I would stay here again as its so well located for activities, but would have preferred a little more upscale attention to detail.

Amanda F.

Nice hotel good first stop for tour.
