What should I do if there is an emergency?
If you have an emergency situation, dial 911. This is the national emergency system, available 24/7. If you need an ambulance, you can call the Red Cross by dialing 128. Most towns have a clinic and pharmacy for basic medical care. Larger cities usually have a hospital.
If you lose your passport of have a legal problem, contact your embassy. The United States, Canada and the United Kingdom all have embassies in San Jose.
