Scuba Diving Catalinas Islands




Scuba Diving Catalina Islands offshore coral and rock formations is the perfect way to capture colorful memories of your trip to Costa Rica. Whether it’s angel fish, octopus or eels you’re after, the spectacular array of marine life found living here is sure to catch your attention. Located on the Pacific coast of Guanacaste province, this is one of the most popular destinations for both advanced and beginner divers.
Today you will go on a two tank scuba dive off the Pacific coast to the Catalina Islands. Your tour will begin when you are picked up at your hotel and driven to the main office. You will meet the boat captain and the dive master who will provide all diving equipment unless you prefer to use your own. You will receive wet suits, two oxygen tanks, masks, flippers and other diving accessories needed for your plunge towards the ocean floor.
The boats are 37 to 40 feet long and have a covered roof for sun protection. They are fully equipped with fresh drinking water, radio, oxygen, and emergency equipment. All dive masters and boat captains are fully certified professionals with years of ocean experience.
As you hop on board, your dive masters will go over the plan created daily based upon the recent weather conditions and visibility. You will visit various sites ranging between 40 feet and 100 feet in depth located around the islands to maximize your opportunity to see an abundance of underwater life.
The Catalinas Islands are located 20 miles offshore and have several select diving spots, each one with different features hosting a myriad of marine life. In fact, many experienced divers who want to go Guanacaste scuba diving specifically come to this site, known for its abundance of interesting sea creatures. Here you might see giant manta rays, devil rays, spotted bull’s eye, mobleys, sharks and sometimes seasonal whales.
There are two tours per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. For an additional cost you may choose to purchase photos or videos of your underwater odyssey.
Please bring along bathing suit, towel, sun protection and any equipment you wish to bring as well as dry clothes to change into.
This tour includes: a licensed boat captain, a professional dive master, all scuba gear, bottled water and transportation from Tamarindo, Riu as well as from the Flamingo and Papagayo areas. One way transportation can take from 15 minutes to 1 hour depending on your pick up location. Total time of scuba diving tour and round trip transportation ranges between 3.5 to 5.5 hours. All participants must be PADI certified.
