When you come to Costa Rica you want to do everything, zip line in the tree tops, hike in the jungle, see waterfalls, ride horses and soak in the volcanic hot springs. This tour will take you to an incredibly beautiful lodge deep in the heart of Guanacaste surrounded by lush green primary forests, exotic bird life, and spectacular waterfalls, providing a multitude of activities ending with a relaxing soak in volcano fed hot springs and mud baths.

Nestled in the shadow of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, the Buena Vista Adventure Lodge has created a natural recreational playground in concert with Mother Nature giving you a most authentic experience while sustaining the wildlife habitat. This tour is for everyone from nature lovers seeking refuge to adrenaline junkies seeking adventure.

You will be transported to a pristine forest full of streams and waterfalls at an elevation of 2,500 feet above sea level. With an average temperature of 78 degrees, and a semi humid tropical forest that stays green year round, your adventures will begin with a comfortable hike across hanging bridges into the tree tops until you reach the first zip lining platform. Your friendly professional guides will go over safety information and give you detailed instructions before fitting you into a harness.

Once ready, you’ll be hooked up to your first cable and glide through the canopy amazed at all the beauty around you. Another guide will be ready to receive you at the next platform perched in the branches of this old growth forest of towering trees. At each of the approximate 10 platforms you will be unhooked from one cable and hooked into the next, each offering a different experience with fantastic views in every direction.

When you complete the zip line adventure you will be at the beginning of a water slide built right into the side of a mountain where you can zoom over 1200 feet on possibly the longest water slide in Costa Rica. Often called the Jungle Slide or the Eco Slide of Costa Rica, this slippery chute will have you sliding around the base of giant tree trunks as you cascade all the way down to the area where lunch will be ready and waiting to be served.

Buena Vista Lodge is unique in that it practices sustainability by growing its own organic food and making fresh cheese, yogurt, and sour cream without any preservatives to serve to its customers. They also grind home grown corn and yucca into flour to serve fresh tortillas, breads and pancakes. Using fresh herbs, vegetables and beans from their garden as well as eggs from their free ranging chickens, they promote organic and animal wellness practices to bring you a delicious intentional healthy meal.

Next you’ll go with your guide to be matched, depending on your riding ability, with one of the well trained, trail friendly horses. You’ll mount up and discover the pure pleasure of riding through the virgin woodlands, fording shallow streams surrounded by a diversity of animal life including birds, monkeys, iguanas, sloths and whatever might show up on the day of your arrival. Out on the mountain tops you will be able to see incredible panoramic views reaching as far away as the Papagayo peninsula in the Pacific Ocean or as close as the majestic Rincon de la Vieja Volcano.

Your horses will lead you to five pools integrated into the woodland forest fed by two streams providing natural thermal waters flowing directly from the volcano. You will be able to soak your tired muscles and luxuriate in the warmth of these crystalline hot springs as well as take a mineralized mud bath.

This action packed full day tour includes round trip air conditioned transportation, bilingual guide, entrance fees, lunch, water and equipment. Long hair will need to be kept securely under a cap while participating in some of the adventures. One way driving times can take up to 3 hours depending on the location of your lodging. Such a fun day!! Literally, a long day and we were exhausted when we returned to our resort; however, in terms of bang for your buck, this was amazing! Not only did we have fun, but we received an education about Costa Rica along the way. Such a fantastic experience to sit in the hot springs with a drink, my love and watch howler monkeys swinging from the trees above us!

there was a lot of changing from wet to dry clothes; i think that logistically this tour could operate better so that less time is spent waiting for the group to change

BEST TIME EVER! Seriously, we all would rate this as 10+. Our guide and driver were amazing. We learned so much, and they seemed to enjoy us which made us more comfortable. The activities were fantastic--they kept getting better and better. Please be sure to tell Khaleb and Dixon how much we appreciated them!

There was so much to offer which made it a great time. I loved that we were able to do so much in a short time without feeling rushed. We were even able to do the 1200 foot slide a second time because we were in a small group (just two of us) :) The horse riding was amazing even though a bit short would have liked more time, and after being at Arenal Hot Springs the hot springs here did not compare! However, the mud bath was actually a great time we had fun with and our skin was so soft. There were also plenty of zip lines for us to do.
