Ziplining through Costa Rica’s giant tropical trees is one of the most exciting adrenaline activities because, well, it’s just so much fun and the whole family can do it! Canyon Lodge, also known as Canon de la Vieja, is just the place to do it.
Canyon Lodge is an adventure resort surrounded by three National Parks in the beautiful province of Guanacaste. These parks protect the wildlife and woodlands surrounding several volcanoes as well as the unique habitats found in the transition area between wet tropical and dry tropical forests.
Located just 8 kilometers from the Liberia International Airport, this resort hosts several on site adventure activities including the Canopy Zipline tour, one of the most popular and epic ways to create lasting memories of Costa Rica. If you have enjoyed hiking through the rainforest on foot, now is your chance to explore the rainforest from new heights, literally!
At Canyon Lodge you will sign in and meet your guide at the reception area. After being fitted with high quality zip line equipment including harnesses and helmets, safety instructions will be reviewed.
From here you’ll hike out to the first platform where you’ll discover how easy it is to zip from line to line. This canopy tour has a total of 8 zipline cables and 16 platforms, allowing visitors to glide from tree to tree, zig zagging across the scenic Colorado River throughout the course. Each cable varies in length between 150 to 360 meters long and can reach up to 75 meters high. The course starts with an easier line and builds up to more challenging ones to give your confidence time to grow.
Your knowledgeable zipline guides are not only adventurer extraordinaires, they are also aware of the nature and wildlife in the area. They will point out any wildlife and birds for you to see throughout the tour.
Please be sure to wear comfortable lightweight clothing, hiking boots or running shoes, and bring along sun block, bug repellent, and rain gear. Note: Transportation is NOT included from hotels other than Canyon Lodge.
