Stand Up Paddle boarding is easy and fun to do even if it is your first time. Typically you’ll go to the calm waters of the bay at Playa Carrillo depending on the weather. SUP, as it is often called, is one of the most popular new water sports since it is so easy to learn. You’ll stand up on a board - similar to a surfboard - and use a long paddle to propel yourself around. You don’t need to be experienced to try it, with just a little balance and patience, you’ll likely be paddling like a pro in no time.
Your bilingual guide will pick you up form your hotel in Samara, Punta Islita or Nosara and take you to the beach. You’ll receive good quality equipment, life jackets and paddling instructions before hopping into the water with your board. You’ll spend about a half an hour practicing close to shore to get comfortable doing it then you can head out further or explore the coastline. Yogis and people with a good sense of balance tend to pick this sport up very quickly. And if you fall in, you’ll just have more fun!
In the Samara region, there are several excellent places to go Stand Up Paddle Boarding and you’ll be taken to the beach that has the calmest water that day. Playa Carrillo has a protected bay and beautiful white sand beaches and is usually the place you will go. You can choose to do a late afternoon lesson and enjoy a beautiful sunset cruise from on top of your paddleboard!
During this approximate 2.5 hour adventure, your guide will provide fresh tropical fruit and a cold drink to keep you refreshed. Please dress appropriately for being out in the sun all day. Wear your bathing suit, hat, sunscreen and bring along your towel. Transportation is available from hotels in Nosara, Samara and Punta Islita and one way transportation to the beach can take up to 30 minutes depending on pick up location and local traffic.
