Surf Lesson in Tamarindo With a Professional Surf Instructor

Surf Lessons in Tamarindo are taught at an ideal Costa Rican beach with regular gentle wave action for learning how to surf. Surfing is an activity well-loved by people of all ages. All you need are good swimming skills and a sense of adventure.

The tour will begin when you are picked up at your hotel in Tamarindo or the surrounding area. If you are staying in Tamarindo, you may get picked up on ATVs so please make a note if you would like to make other arrangements.

You’ll be taken to a sandy beach at Tamarindo where your instructor will explain safety instructions, surfing etiquette and directions on how to “pop” up on the board in the ideal position. You’ll learn the importance of placing your hands and feet in the correct position in order to maintain balance. The well trained, enthusiastic and fun instructors will teach you all you need to know to get you standing on your board and riding the waves in no time.

After practicing your moves on shore, your instructor will lead you out into the ocean to catch some waves allowing you to put into practice what you’ve learned. Depending on your physical fitness level, some people learn right away while others need more time to practice. Your instructor will stay with you giving you the support you need to get the hang of the sport. Either way, surf lessons are a lot of fun and the perfect thing to try while on your beach vacation.

Guanacaste surf lessons provide an opportunity to stay fit while enjoying some play time at the beach.

This tour includes a professional surf instructor, high quality surf board, bottled water and transportation (depending on the hotel's location, it may not be included or could incur an additional cost; please inquire) from Tamarindo, Flamingo and JW Marriot Guanacaste . It can take 15 to 45 minutes each way from your hotel to the beach, depending on your pick-up location. Combined time of transportation and surf lesson can be between 2.5 and 3 hours. Please bring your bathing suit, towel, sun protection and a rash guard. Rash guards (water shirts) are available for rent from your surf instructor if you should choose to rent one.

Please note that 2 to 5 people are needed to run a group class, otherwise a private lesson can be provided at a different rate.
