Why Rio Perdido and Samara work together
Rio Perdido is a place to linger: forest-view bungalows, mineral pools and two rivers carving their way through Guanacaste’s tropical dry forest. Three nights put the canyon canopy adventure and whitewater tubing on separate days, with time to return to the quiet of the hotel afterward. Samara brings a change of scenery and rhythm. The Pacific opens out beyond the palms, the beach town is close by, and two full days are yours to spend without a scheduled excursion. Private transfers connect both stays with Liberia airport, keeping the journey between forest and coast straightforward.
Three nights beside the Pacific, with two open days for Samara’s palm-lined beach and nearby town.

From river canyons to Samara’s Pacific shore
Rio Perdido’s character comes from its extraordinary meeting of rivers. Warm mineral water and the cooler Rio Blanco flow through tall canyon walls near Bagaces, deep in Guanacaste’s tropical dry forest.
Samara changes the rhythm. Forest canyons give way to a broad Pacific view, palms along the shore and the relaxed atmosphere of a beach town.
- In the starting trip, the Canyon Canopy Zipline Adventure and White Water Tubing remain two separate included experiences on Days 2 and 3.
- Two days are free of scheduled excursions. Free-day entries describe time to explore on your own and do not include any services.
Is this the right mix of adventure and beach time for you?
- Rio Perdido brings you into the dry forest and river canyon: the canopy circuit crosses above the Rio Blanco, while tubing follows the whitewater between its walls. They are separate outings, leaving time back at the hotel between adventures.
- Samara offers a softer pace beside the Pacific. Two unscheduled beach days let you enjoy the shore and town, or ask your planner about a separate Kayaking and Snorkeling Tour to Chora Island. That optional outing is not included and has its own swimming, weight and operating requirements.
- The starting stay at Azura is adults-only and all-inclusive; Hotel Belvedere offers a smaller stay near town, and Nammbu offers the hillside Carrillo setting. Your planner can help choose the coastal atmosphere you prefer.
