Country Inn and Suites

San Jose

Good to Know

Country Inn and Suites in San José's Cariari area offers a tranquil retreat near Juan Santamaría Airport, ideal for both initial and concluding nights in Costa Rica. Guests can enjoy two swimming pools amidst tropical gardens, a complimentary fitness center, and convenient dining options. The hotel serves as an excellent base for exploring Central Valley attractions like Poás Volcano and coffee tours, or for business travelers needing high-speed internet and meeting facilities.

A garden pause in Cariari

Two swimming pools and tropical gardens give Country Inn and Suites a welcome pause between travel days. In San José's Cariari area, near Juan Santamaría Airport, the hotel works well for a first or last night in Costa Rica, with enough space to settle in rather than simply wait for a flight.

A starting point for the Central Valley

Cariari puts airport days and regional outings into the same stay. Poás Volcano, coffee visits, museums, the National Theater, rafting and ziplining can shape time beyond the pools. Nearby restaurants, bars, casinos and shopping—from local stores and craft markets to larger malls—add options for an evening or a spare afternoon. Ask your planner about specific attractions, including INBio Park and zoo visits, before arranging a day around them.

Choose your room or suite

Standard Rooms include air conditioning, cable television, coffee-making facilities and a safe, plus a hair dryer, telephone and iron with ironing board. Complimentary daily newspapers are part of their inclusions. Junior Suites add separate living rooms to those comforts; the Presidential Suite's kitchenette and living room with a sofa bed make more independent time possible. Executive Rooms include a complimentary breakfast buffet in a private lounge and 3 free minutes of local calls; confirm that category when planning your stay.

A settled travel day

A buffet breakfast, a swim among the gardens and time in the free guest fitness center can make a travel day feel pleasantly settled. The business center and high-speed internet support work between outings, and the meeting room is available to rent. Cribs and special requirements can be requested in advance. The restaurant and bar keep dining and evening drinks close at hand.

What to consider when choosing this stay

  • A Cariari base near Juan Santamaría Airport suits a first or last night in Costa Rica, as well as trips that mix leisure and business, without reducing the stay to waiting for a flight.
  • Two swimming pools surrounded by tropical gardens give you a place to pause between journeys; the restaurant, bar and buffet breakfast keep dining close at hand.
  • The fitness center is free for guests, and complimentary high-speed internet plus a business center support everyday work or travel planning. A meeting room can be rented.
  • Junior Suites add a separate living room, while the Presidential Suite has a kitchenette, a full living room and a sofa bed—useful distinctions for more space or a longer stay.
  • Executive Rooms include a complimentary breakfast buffet in a private lounge and 3 free minutes of local calls. Confirm that category and its benefits in your arrangements.
  • Cribs and other special needs can be requested. Compare the room’s facilities, air conditioning and sleeping arrangement with your party rather than assuming every category is identical.
  • Restaurants, bars, casinos, craft shopping and malls in the surrounding area add options beyond the hotel. City museums and the National Theater give a capital visit a different pace.
  • Coffee tours, Poás Volcano, rafting and ziplining are possibilities for Central Valley days. Arrange timings and transport as outings rather than assuming they are included in an airport-area stay.

Beautiful grounds and facilities.

This hotel was filthy.

The room was too small and dated. We checked in late at night and checked out early in the morning the next day. So, did not matter much. There was no breakfast buffet in this hotel either.

did not stay long enough to adequately review

The worst part of the trip. We checked in and got a super tiny room facing the freeway. The hotel looked like it was abandoned, no cars and the entry to the rooms was dark and kinda scary. We asked for a different room and they switched us, the room was better but the phone didn't work so my husband walked all the way back to the front to ask for stuff, and the front desk said none of the phones were working on that side of the building. Also, this hotel is listed as having laundry services, but they didn't at all. ?. Breakfast was ok. Tables were dirty, and it was like noone cared. The place looks ok in the morning but definitely scary and empty at night. I would hope to never stay here again.

Hotel restaurant was just ok

Tammy W.

The nicest people ever. Very thoughtful to keep their distance since we were getting our covid test the next day. Even sent up room service although their restaurant was closed when they knew we hadn’t eaten

Ellie C.

Lovely grounds, nice pool area. We were only there for an overnight in transit to the airport, but it was a lovely accommodation. Would have been happy to stay longer.

Robert D.

We didn’t stay there long enough to enjoy the amenities but it was located near a really nice bar where we were able to enjoy a few drinks and food before bed.

Staff went above and beyond to help us.

Very nice hotel with a super friendly and helpful staff. When we asked that the patio furniture be wiped down from residual dust, a staff member was at our room promptly to do so. We were given a very nice room.

Mike D.

Very clean and comfortable. -1 at the end because happy hour is only on weekends :-)

Douglas F.

The floors were not clean. Our unit was a two floor walk up with an additional inter unit stair that is not practical for older folks.

Nadia H.

The room we had this time had good internet access.

Susana L.

Tinny room with a poor bathroom, but enough for one night.

Sandra E.

Nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff

Sara E.

Really appreciated their effort to check us in early. Clean and comfortable. Breakfast wasn’t great!

Nadia H.

Our room had little internet reception

Kyle F.

Nice Hotel first sunny day, so thankful for the pool and some relaxation.

Alexandra M.

The hotel was very nice. The furniture was a bit dated and the door to the balcony couldn't be opened.

Tony B.

The room was satisfactory, and the staff was great! Front desk personnel were very helpful with directions and advice.

Amy S.

ok hotel. It was disappointing for value and size. We had stayed in some really nice places. This is one I picked out. I should have left it to the experts to chose for us. Would not stay here again.

Kolleen M.

Pool and courtyard patio were very quite and nice

Todd U.

Same comments as our first night except we were on the first floor so the lack of elevators was not an issue. Also we had a later flight, so we had more time to eat breakfast and we used the free shuttle service to the airport.

Steve F.

Minimal room, but great staff.
