Tamarindo Diria Resort

Tamarindo

Good to Know

Tamarindo Diria Resort brings together Playa Tamarindo beach access, multiple pools and dining in a lively town setting. Rooms are on the oceanfront or across the street, with family and adults-only choices that create different stays. Compare section and room category before booking; balconies, terraces and private water features vary. Choose Diria for a vacation that can move easily between resort hours, surfing and coastal outings.

Tamarindo’s beach life, with a resort to return to

Golden sand and the energy of town come together at Tamarindo Diria Resort. The property fronts Playa Tamarindo, putting a beach outing, a swim and a meal within the rhythm of a resort stay. Surfing gives the shoreline its lively character, while pools and places to relax invite you to enjoy an afternoon without planning another excursion.

Choose the section that suits your stay

Location within the resort matters. Accommodation is available on the oceanfront and across the street in family or couples sections. An ocean-oriented room, a family pool setting and an adults-only Tropicana room create different experiences, so consider both the outlook and the section when booking.

Rooms and suites bring tropical colors and modern comforts into the stay, with balconies or terraces in some categories. The sunset ocean-view option emphasizes the coast; family pool-view rooms keep the pool setting close. Selected Tropicana categories add a Jacuzzi or plunge pool. Use the room details to choose the experience you want rather than expecting the same outdoor space or features throughout the property.

Between the pools and Playa Tamarindo

Multiple swimming pools let you vary the day, including an oceanfront pool with Pacific views. Take time for a swim, settle beside the water or head onto the beach. Direct access to Playa Tamarindo makes the shoreline a natural part of the stay, with beach chairs and umbrellas adding convenience to time by the sand.

Surf lessons offer a way to join the activity on this well-known surfing beach, while a walk or a leisurely pause lets you enjoy it at your own pace. Back at the resort, dining spans casual beachside meals and more formal settings, with seafood, Costa Rican dishes and international flavors. Fresh, locally sourced ingredients connect the meals with the region, while bars and lounges invite you to extend the evening with a tropical cocktail or an artisanal spirit.

Leave room for town and coast

Tamarindo’s setting makes it easy to combine hotel time with a livelier vacation. Wildlife tours, jungle zip-lining and national-park outings can add adventure beyond the resort. Massages and facials at the spa provide a quieter counterpoint when you return. Diria’s appeal is the combination: a beach-town stay with enough variety on site to enjoy a day close to your accommodation, provided you choose the right section for your trip.

Choosing Tamarindo Diria Resort

  • Beach and town together: direct Playa Tamarindo access places surfing, sand and coastal scenery within a resort stay in a lively beach town.
  • Choose the right section: accommodation is on the oceanfront or across the street in family or couples sections. A beachfront resort address does not mean every room is on the beach side.
  • Family and adults-only choices: family pool-view rooms and adults-only Tropicana options create different atmospheres. Select the section that suits your party and preferred pace.
  • Pool variety: multiple pools include an oceanfront pool with Pacific views, giving you a place to swim even on a day spent close to the resort.
  • Comfort for beach hours: beach chairs and umbrellas make shore time convenient, while surf lessons offer a way to join Tamarindo’s surfing activity.
  • Dining and evenings on site: casual beachside meals, more formal dining, bars and lounges bring seafood, Costa Rican dishes and international flavors into the stay.
  • Room features vary: balconies, terraces, Jacuzzi and plunge-pool features depend on category. Choose deliberately if private outdoor space or a water feature is important.
  • A change of pace beyond the pool: spa treatments, wildlife tours, zip-lining and national-park outings provide relaxing and adventurous possibilities without requiring the same kind of day throughout the trip.

Construction at hotel bar. Some noisy neighbors.

The pool and the beach were really fun, and the food was great. A slice of paradise. Our room was broken into the first night (I thought I had locked the sliding door but had not) but nothing was taken.

great location and wonderful to be able to walk in town for other food and drink options

The staff was friendly but a little light on English. They are also not very helpful about activities in the area. Weather was very rainy which is not their fault but they had nothing on hand for a rainy day, (deck of cards, game of chess, etc.) Also it was only about 20% occupied so it did not feel much like a resort.

Love this hotel - right on the beach and howler monkeys on the roof.

Sally A.

Nice hotel in a fun, busy location. However, the staff was definitely not as friendly as all of our other Costa Rican experiences. Beautiful beach location. We just didn't like the constant peddling and disturbing family time from vendors on the beach and on the streets. That was overwhelming and annoying. They even bothered us while we were on the hotel premises which we were told they aren't allowed to do that.

Daniela C.

Very nice accommodation.

Great location. Nice beach. Good food. My only real complaint is that we were on the third floor of building 10 and the street noise was extremely loud all night long. We did not sleep well for the four nights that we stayed there.

Ginger M.

This hotel was very nice and we loved our ocean views. The location couldn't be beat because we could easily walk to shops and restaurants. The breakfast buffet and beachside restaurant had really good food. The beach and ocean were perfect. We always found lounge chairs at the beach and I like that we could be on the grassy lawn and find some shade underneath the trees. The only thing I would change is the room cleaning schedule is in the morning when we were coming back from breakfast and getting ready for our day. I wish it would have been over lunchtime when were sure to be gone everyday.

Courtney M.

Beds were a little hard.

Meaghan F.

Staff is not very friendly. Particularly at the tour desk.

This place is amazing. We tried to do 2 nights here but would have had to pay for the 3rd night at Wyndham due to the change request with only a days notice. It is nice being right in the middle of everything. The beach. The restaurants. The property is really nice and the gym was better than the other hotels we stayed at. The pool, restaurant and ocean views were simply breathtaking. Loved this place.

Had beachfront room. Band next door was loud until 2a.m. on first night then midnite on 2nd nite. Room was a little small but ok. Pool and beach were very nice.

resort and all staff was wonderful

Rooms somewhat in need of renovation and repairs. Location was great. Beach and great surfing right in front of hotel. Walking distance to everything.

Best hotel on the beach.

Kevin was our personal maître d'!!! He took excellent care of us at all times at the bar, restaurant, etc. He has a particularly excellent talent for customer service!!! The beach front room was superb! The tour desk was good!

Kate S.

This resort was great! The only thing I wish was different were the amount of beach vendors trying to sell things that would not leave us alone. However, I know this was a public beach, so the resort was not able to do anything about this.

Gina J.

Beautiful resort! The restaurant was unfortunately under construction while we were there, but the rest of the resort was amazing.

Russelle C.

Loud cars driving by early morning and late at night. The hotel is set beautifully next to the beach but should have better insulation so you’re not woken up by cars driving by. Food is good.

Josephine K.

We loved this hotel. We had 3rd floor ocean view rooms that were fantastic. The rooms were small, but updated, clean and pretty. We loved the location of this hotel - on the beach and walking distance to so many things.

We were definitely spoiled coming here from Arenal Springs. The hotel was beautiful, but we didn't spend much time in the pool areas as they were located across the street. The one day we did go to a pool, the adults only pool bar was not even open. The staff here was also not very friendly. There were a few that were very nice and helpful, Jaquine in the restaurant and Randall that helped us with bags in particular. The room was fine, but we were essentially in a basement, as our room backed up to a dirt wall. There were also people that would cut between the back door of our room and the dirt wall. This was very surprising. Especially when you didn't know that was going to happen. It was also loud. We expected that to an extent, but I was expecting more of traffic noise. It was as if the doors were open to the hall at all hours. The street noise was not bad at all compared to the noise coming from the hallway. Tamarindo is such a cute town, and the hotel was nice, but I think the staff could have been friendlier and we should have not chosen the room that we did.

This hotel was great! Very secure, clean and convenient to everything in downtown Tamarindo. The pools were beautiful, the staff was great, and we loved the breakfast. The only thing we didn't love was that there was a marathon occurring at the hotel while we were there and did not know about it. It was VERY loud. at 2am. There was no chance of sleeping. Fireworks were going off too. The rest of our stay was great, though

Really good breakfast!
