Safe fun for family and perfect for first timers, imagine the excitement learning to shoot whitewater rapids in the renown Savegre River led by safety trained rafting experts.

You’ll begin this trek riding a 4 x 4 as you and your family or group will journey through remote areas of jungle canopy for approximately 45 minutes following spectacular views of the river until you reach a thatched roof village called Silencio.

Here you will enjoy a hearty Costa Rican typical breakfast while taking the chance to stretch your legs as you explore this local pueblo. At the restaurant you will make lunch reservations in advance so when you return from your exciting adventure, once again hungry, your hot lunch will have been arranged for you.

Next you’ll climb aboard your rafts ready for the thirteen-mile round trip expedition where you’ll be learning the craft of whitewater rafting through various classifications of rapids. Your experienced guide and safety kayaker will go over all safety instructions and teach you the basics while helping you become familiar with the equipment.

Starting slowly, easily maneuvering through Class ll rapids, you’ll gain confidence as you work your way up with guidance through Class lll then Class lV waters, finding the thrill and excitement of navigating this beautiful watercourse.

Your guide will stop at pristine places where you can break to swim and take in breathtaking waterfalls. Winding along the river in this primary rainforest environment your knowledgeable guide will point out the abundant wildlife found in this protected area. Local species of interest to birding enthusiasts include: ospreys, egrets, parrots, toucans, cormorants, and kingfishers, to name a few.

This multi-faceted adventure tour combines rafting through the natural beauty of a tropical rain forest, the excitement of learning to negotiate the rapids with the cultural experience of exploring a remote primitive pueblo and its delicious typical Costa Rican cuisine.

After returning to Silencio for lunch, you’ll go back through the rain forest riding on a 4 x 4 until reaching Manuel Antonio. Round trip shuttle transportation is included and travel times vary depending on the distance from your hotel. For local area pick up, approximately 15 minutes; for areas as far away as Herradura plan on travel time of approximately one and a half hours. Appropriate for adults and children over 8 years old who are relatively fit for using a paddle.

This full day tour includes round trip transportation from Manuel Antonio area hotels. A surcharge is applied for transportation from other zones and is not included in online rates. Also included are expert bilingual guides trained in safety kayaking, breakfast, lunch, snacks and all river rafting equipment. Who knows, you might find yourself eager to advance to the next level on Pacific Trade Wind’s Whitewater Rafting Rio Naranjo tour!

The tour guides were very friendly, informative, and made sure we had lots of fun! They even stopped occasionally to grab local fauna and show it to us! The rafting was an amazing experience!

Whitewater rafting was a blast and our guide was great. The waterfall we hiked up to was beautiful and it was a lot of fun to swim in. Lunch at the local village restaurant was very good. I would highly recommend.
