Practical notes: the Tenorio hike is a moderate four- to five-hour outing with 250 steps down to the waterfall viewing platform and back up. Wear enclosed hiking shoes and bring rain protection. Weather affects the river’s color, snorkeling conditions and wildlife sightings. Swimming is not permitted inside Tenorio National Park.

Three Rio Celeste Hideaway nights begin among rainforest and the Tenorio landscape, with an open day before the included guided river-and-waterfall hike. Three nights at Bahia del Sol then move the vacation to Guanacaste’s Pacific coast. The Lazy Lizard sailing and snorkeling outing departs from Flamingo, while the remaining coastal day stays open.
