Can I do a day trip to Monteverde from Arenal or vice versa?
Yes, but you should first consider the amount of time you will spend traveling versus the time you will actually have there. It will take you nearly 2.5 to 3 hours via Land-Boat-Land or 3.5 – 4 hours driving around the lake. Therefore, when you consider that daytime only lasts from around 5:45 AM – 5:45 PM, you will spend 5 - 7 hours in transit just to go there for a few hours before returning.
There are companies that sell this as a tour and we can provide it if you insist. However, we do not recommend doing so. Take advantage of our local knowledge and expertise to create a realistic, rewarding and pleasantly surprising itinerary so you do not make mistakes like this.
