Arenal Hanging Bridges

The Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges offer an amazing glimpse into the canopy of the rainforest! The hike includes terrestrial trails and bridges through the tree tops allowing you to view the forest from all perspectives. All of the 12 bridges vary in height and length and provide an interesting way to observe the rainforest canopy. In addition to learning about the jungle, you may also be fortunate enough to see wild animals such as monkeys, sloths, toucans, or iguanas. Wildlife observation is not guaranteed on this tour but often occurs and your guide will be ready with a spotting scope should animals decide to make an appearance. It is important to mention that open sandals or shoes are NOT permitted on this tour. This fun filled half day tour includes guides, transportation, and entrance to the private reserve. This supplier maintains a zero-plastic policy, so no water bottles will be offered, only a refrigerated water dispenser for visitors to refill their own reusable bottles. Food during the hike trail is not allowed, and running or jumping on the bridges is not allowed. Use of radio, speakers, and similar devices is not allowed in the park.

The Rio Celeste Waterfall is one of the most beautiful in the world! The day starts with a moderate hike through Tenorio National Park on semi groomed trails. When you hear the roar of the falls, look down into the valley and you will see the magnificent turquoise blue colored Rio Celeste waterfalls and river. The hike down is difficult, but well worth it! Following the falls, you will have the opportunity to visit the lagoon and if there is time, the natural hot springs. The Cano Negro Riverboat Safari is an amazing experience and opportunity to see numerous species of wildlife. The refuge which is located a little over two hours away from La Fortuna, is a home to one of the largest populations of caimans, which can be observed at nearly every turn! It’s not only reptiles though as the area is also home to both spider monkeys and congo monkeys which can be heard howling from miles away. Birdwatchers will delight as hundreds of species either live here or migrate through including toucans, roseate spoonbills and trogons. Arenal Volcano and Ecotermales Hot Springs

In the afternoon you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to an Arenal nature preserve to hike through the rainforest to a lookout point with excellent views of Arenal Volcano. Your bilingual naturalist guide will help you spot any wildlife and provide you with an interesting history of the area. Following the hike, you will be brought to Eco Termales Hot Springs to relax and bathe in the spring-fed hot spring pools of various temperatures which are surrounded by lush tropical gardens. Here you can enjoy a delicious buffet dinner in a lovely covered outdoor setting adjacent to the springs. This tour includes a guide, transportation, admission to both the nature reserve and hot springs as well as buffet dinner. If you would like to rent a locker at the hot springs, be sure to bring cash for this transaction. Transportation in the La Fortuna area can take between 15- 45 minutes each way, depending on where your hotel is located. The combined time of the tour plus round-trip transportation can be between 4 and 6 hours, especially if your hotel is located further out. Be sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes as well as bring sunscreen, insect repellent, rain gear, binoculars, camera, bathing suit, towel, cash if using the locker at Eco Termales, reusable water bottle and change of clothes.

The access to the main trail will remain open as normal. In the Velvet Bridge area, visitors will take a marked shortcut, which will allow them to descend to a small stream and enjoy the natural environment before rejoining the main trail.
