This week suits travelers who want the thrill of a rainforest zipline and river rapids without an excursion on every day. The hot springs provide a quieter counterpoint in Arenal; two open beach days let you settle into the Pacific coast.

Ecoglide involves heights and harnesses. The Río Sarapiquí outing runs Class II–III rapids and has a minimum age of seven. Arenal brings Costa Rica’s rainforest close: canopy platforms at Ecoglide, moving water on the Río Sarapiquí, and hot-springs pools waiting back at Los Lagos.
