Visitors to La Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano region can expect a warm, tropical climate with a dry season in the winter months. Closer to the shores of Lake Arenal, windy conditions are typical thanks to what locals call the Lake Effect.
The weather in La Fortuna is affected by both the Caribbean and Pacific. Generally speaking the best weather is experienced from December through April and July and the beginning of August. September and October are usually the months with the highest precipitation, though in recent years September has seen lower rainfall totals than in years past.
