Day 2: A beach day at your own pace
Wake up with no outing to rush for. Spend time by the pool or explore Manuel Antonio at your own pace. Today is yours to enjoy the coast before tomorrow’s fishing adventure.
Day 3: A full day on the Pacific
Head offshore aboard a 28-foot boat with a captain and mate, fishing for Pacific species such as marlin, sailfish and yellowfin tuna. Eight hours on the water leave time to settle into the rhythm of the charter, with lunch and refreshments on board. Return to Shana By The Beach for another evening in Manuel Antonio.

Leave the Pacific coast behind and take a shared transfer from Manuel Antonio to La Fortuna. Settle into Arenal Springs Resort and Spa for three nights, with time to enjoy the volcano setting.
Day 5: Cast into Lake Arenal
Trade ocean swells for freshwater fishing on Lake Arenal. A guide takes you out in search of rainbow bass and machacca, with boat, tackle and gear provided. The day includes hotel transport, snacks and water, then returns you to Arenal Springs Resort and Spa for a relaxed evening.
Day 6: An easy day beneath Arenal
Head into La Fortuna for shops and a meal. With no scheduled outing, there is time to enjoy the volcano setting rather than move straight on to the next adventure.

From rainforest shores to freshwater fishing
Manuel Antonio’s rainforest-fringed coast and Playa Flamingo’s offshore waters frame a freshwater stop at Lake Arenal. Guapote, often called rainbow bass, and machacca make lake fishing a different experience from the Pacific charters.
Three nights in each fishing base leave time to settle in between outings and open days. A final night in the San Jose area puts the long drive from the coast behind you before departure.
- Tell us the size of your fishing party: the 28-foot Manuel Antonio charter accommodates up to four anglers and the 29-foot Flamingo charter up to five.
- Share the ages in your group and discuss which outings fit; the listed age requirements and license arrangements are detailed below.
- Keep the open days for the coast, La Fortuna or time at your hotel, or ask your specialist about optional activities. Shana’s nature trail toward Biesanz Beach is steep.
A smooth journey from coast to lake
The default uses combined private and shared transfers: private airport transfers and shared regional transfers between destinations. Choose all-private transfers or a rental car only instead. The rental car replaces the airport and regional transfer plan; your planner confirms pickup, return, insurance and the revised price.

Pricing and practical notes
The displayed starting price is a vacation example; a travel specialist confirms a personal quote for your travel dates. The source sample price used double occupancy for October dates with a rental car. Pricing for the default combined private and shared transfer plan, or another transportation choice, is confirmed for your dates. Pacific Trade Winds works with a combination of contract and dynamic rates, which fluctuate daily based on the season and available rooms and are often lower than list rates. Inquire for pricing on your travel dates.
Free days are for leisure and do not include additional guided activities or specific services. Fishing conditions, weather and catches vary. Personal fishing licenses are not included in the offshore charters. The 28-foot Manuel Antonio charter’s license is listed at 17 USD, payable on arrival; the 29-foot Flamingo charter’s license is approximately 17 USD and must be purchased online before the outing. Ask your travel specialist for current fees and procedures. The Lake Arenal outing is listed for ages five and up; the Manuel Antonio charter for ages four and up. Optional activities, spa treatments and personal purchases cost extra. Inquire for details about included meals and drinks, including the all-inclusive plan at Margaritaville. The Arenal Springs 15% spa-treatment discount for Pacific Trade Winds clients remains subject to the hotel’s current terms.

Manuel Antonio, Lake Arenal and Flamingo: three fishing settings
The sequence begins on Manuel Antonio’s Pacific coast, moves inland to Lake Arenal and returns to the ocean at Flamingo. Freshwater fishing for guapote and machacca gives the middle chapter a different purpose from the offshore charters. Three nights at each base leave time for the coast, La Fortuna and the selected hotels between fishing days; a final San Jose-area night supports departure. Share the number of anglers and the fishing you prefer so boat capacity, licenses and the complete journey can be confirmed together.
